NoS

...is in the pipeline for my BMW. The current and currently planned tuning takes the car to its maximum level, it wont make any more power, or take corners any faster, without it being, to a large degree, a different car. NoS is the last of the modifications I can do, it'll push peak power to... who knows? After that, there's nowhere left to go. Which is quite sad, really.
Perhaps I'll take up crochét.

No idea just yet, I don't know enough about it. I've always been more into refinement than big power, so NoS has only rarely entered my consciousness. I don't want anything that will slaughter the hand-crafted engine, and I don't want something that will be used up in one evening. That, as well as the fact that I don't think the car will be able to lay down all the power from a "big hit" means I'll go for something mild, just a little trickle. I'm also not sure how NoS is placed among a supercharged engine setup. I have much to learn.
To the best of my knowledge, NOS is not cheap by any means, so buying a lot of it and using it often is not a good idea for anyone with financial issues.
I don't think you'll slaughter your engine if you use it right. NOS provides a power boost; it does not change your engine's characteristics. So using it at high rpms is a BAD idea, 'cause you'll suddenly find yourself in rpms that your engine wasn't designed to handle, and it'll rip itself apart. Using it at low rpms is also a BAD idea, because you're trying to get it to accelerate from such a slow speed, and you'll end up blowing something off your engine. (Like a header) Using it at mid rpms shouldn't hurt your engine, depending on how much you use at a time.
Buuut, if you already know this, then ignore me and continue on your merry way.
Thanks, its good advice
He had to put in chromed piston heads as the Nos will pit the stock metal pistons. I do not know if this is true on a German motor. I am sure you will check into all that before purchasing/installing anything.
The Jeep was so fast when we stroked the Nos we were stunned. and Jeeps are unstable as fuk at high speeds. We never did that again.
For the placement, it depends on your set-up. Are you running an actual belt-driven supercharger, or a turbocharger? If it's a supercharger, I'm guessing it's probably a centrifugal-type, and, on either one of those, or on a turbo, I believe the inlet spray should be in the intake pipe between either the compressor outlet, or intercooler, if equipped, and the throttle. If it does have an intercooler, I'd do it after the intercooler.
For shot size, if you have as much power out of the engine as you can get already, and just want a little bit more, I would go with a 50 HP - 100 HP shot, and probably wouldn't go any higher than a 150 HP shot unless the bottom end is built with really high-strength components that can handle the added cylinder pressure of the nitrous.
Also, just as a side note, you should also probably step up to a higher octane number gas, or however it's rated where you live.
Hehe, I just finished with a class that was all about squeezing as much power as possible out of an engine.
Thanks for the advice.
I'm getting a pro to do it. I asked my usual mechanic if you could fit NoS with a blower,
and his replay was, "ermm, you can on Need For Speed..."
Also, I agree with your thinking about the nitrous being the last thing to do. With my truck, it's going to be the same. I'm going to get the twin-turbo'd Chevy 350 in it and run that up until I can't get anymore power out of it before I bottle-feed it.
The only other performance thing I can do is get a plastic body kit for it. The only body kit I like is the BBS one, and it's ultra-mega rare. There's two parts (of a set of five) in Australia. Don't suppose you'd buy me a very expensive birthday present..? If you do, I'll make a removable attachment for an electronically fired projectile weapon of some kind, and wire it up to a button on the dashboard, so it's all functional minus the gun, just for you.
Listed as $300 for front, $300 for rear, and $300 for sides.
I expect they'd take an offer of far less, but it's still a huge amount,
certainly more than I can afford for a long while.
There's actually four parts (I didn't know they had sides),
third one down on this page, listed as BBS Bodykit (the white convertible)

Big intercooler? Alcohol injection and/or water injection? MegaSquirt-II? Heavy-duty front and rear anti-sway bars? Poly bushings? Punched-out catalytic? Other stuff?
I could go on for weeks about all the mods. No alcohol, no water, no swirlpot, since the engine is running high compression and forced induction, alcohol would make the fuel unsafe to use at such high temperatures and pressures. No intercooler, amazingly, but a "tropical" radiator and aluminium fan. Serious anti-sway stuff, not the "best" (hardest) but the most suited to the suspension. Subframe bushings are standard for comfort reasons, front suspension bushings are poly. No cat, but it needs one for the annual vehicle inspection, otherwise it'll fail the smog checks. Other stuff: Bilstein shocks in Eibach springs, Rotrex supercharger, Alcantara interior, M5 differential, catcam cam shaft, upgraded flywheel, induction, strut-top braces, throttle body, brakes, engine management...
Seems like I've changed just about everything, but that wasn't my goal. Although I'm not an E30 maniac, and I don't think they're the best cars ever, I've tried to keep this one as original as possible, as I said in the journal itself, "it wont make any more power, or take corners any faster, without it being, to a large degree, a different car" - I've kept an E30 engine, in an E30 shell, with E30 specific parts. Anything better is not going to be an E30.

Same goes for the 240SX with an LT1 engine jammed in it at one of the drift days I attended.
I look forward to hearing more of your adventures with NoS. The only thing I have to contribute on the subject is a quote:
"Nitrous is like a beautiful girl with an STD: You want to hit it, but you're afraid of the consequences..."
I'll just use a condom.
