Okay, Crazy Project Thought of the week...
... So, now I got this idea...
I wanna do a sticker book club. The idea is that you have a blank book, and that you plan the book both around the Convention Circuit and around a Monthly Club. I get together with about five other artists, and we all create like 1 or 2 stickers for each month (Aiming for a goal of 62 larger stickers, or 144 smaller stickers). You collect by the year, and you buy the stickers either directly from the artist at conventions, or you buy the sticker on the Book Website, or you collect the whole month's of stickers from the club for a fair price for limited run stickers.
If successful, I ask the artists to continue contributing next year, or we increase the pool of artists.
I have a requirement that each artist has at least one 'mascot', a character that represents them and their work, that allows a person to identify that artist as they flip through the book easily. That mascot is put at the end of the sticker book, along with the contributor and a one paragraph bio and web site contact.
The collector Book would have the first six-twelve stickers, and could be bought at a central website, or from me or an artist agent at the conventions in question.
With convention circuits, it probably would make more sense to get only artist who I will know will be at target locations to make a sticker for that month, though. I don't know. This is very early planning stages.
I've been wanting to make a sticker collection for almost a year now. I'm in such a bad position to complete a task like this, but I am trying to get a feel if people would even like this idea, or would like to enter into a venture like that with me.
If you are reading this, tell me what you think. Good, Bad, it's all okay. I just would like to make one of my projects real sometime, and this one, for this moment, feels really, really doable.
