i cant believe after all the work me and a friend put into my moms cavalier, the damn thing breaks other parts....now i gotta get a new power steering pump and belt tensioner. that and my win 7 64 bit install decided to shit itself....so now im back on my old hard drive until i can buy another one, and its also full of disk errors as to why i got off it in the first place. hadnt been able to draw or do anything as my tablet decides when it wants to work and when it doesnt. though i think thats due to the hard drive dying. ugh, anyways, i just thought id let people know what ive been tied up with here lately. hopefully im not broke and driven insane when its all said and done XD

OP
hopefully yes. the part need is cheap, so its not going to be a big issue, and its easy to get to. plus i may have found the issue by accent during my off time at work. so yeah, going to try it all out and see if i can get it roadworthy again.....whenever it stops randomly raining every 30 minutes.

actually sounds to me that your south bridge may be the problem, the south bridge chip handles the hard drives, USB's. Optical drives, and also negotiates IRQ request addresses between devices. There are a few other things it handles as well, but my brain is stuck on tits for brains at the moment and can't think of the others, It could also be the PSU, the 12v's could be failing on that and making your motherboard and other devices malfunction. If you have a multimeter set it to 12V and test all the molex connectors and sata connectors.

its possible. ive had these parts for about 3 years now. and went through 2 psus. probably just going to save up and get a 750 or 850 psu next time. might try to make it last til tax time, then i can do a complete system upgrade and stop using old parts i had while i was still in college
