I think it might or might not be because furries are broke. I know I am! Granted I'm broke because I'm a full-time college student without a job, with an obsession with guitars and several active guitar builds...

Edit: Diff'rent strokes for diff'rent folks. Some furries are broke because of fursuits. That's something I'd imagine. Also, I'm being stupid right now so it may just be better to just ignore this post. herpderp.
