Question for the Apple Techs
10 years ago
*blows off the dust of this old journal* I have seen tweets about the new iOS 9 going around so I somewhat know about it coming out today
I've been thinking about saving up to get a iPod 5th or 6th Gen iPod 32GB at some point to update from my 3rd and 4th Gen iPods I currently use. Reason why is that I use my 3rd Gen for my music and my 4th Gen for video watching and checking my messages and what not.
Technical problems is that my 3rd Gen likes to glitch when I insert my headphones and randomly plays the song, fast forwards it, or randomly pull up voice control. Its really getting annoying at times x-x;
As for my 4th Gen, it tends to crash at times when too much is going on, and I normally use that for Youtube, Twitter, Facebook (alittle cause it loads like a brick at times), messages, etc. Again its annoying with the crashes when on Youtube, Twitter, or sometimes on Safari. Also cant do much to upgrade to the new stuff sticking with the old iOS when it will no longer be supported x-x;
My general use will be for MP3, video watching, and message checking (mainly). Nothing outrageous.
My question is this: Is it wise to look into buying a 5th or 6th Gen iPod right now or should I wait later? Even though the new iOS 9 is out now and some like to wait just because of bugs and whatnot, I just want to know if its a wise / smart choice to invest into one sooner or later.

FA+

Let it be said that i made my way with my 4s for a long long time - It's not like you cant make it a distance with one.
Ever considered jail braking an older device?
Could see into breathing new life into an old one or even bypassing annoying features.
There are some hella useful tweaks around
But all the new tweaks are for the newer phones...so your options might still be limited.
And stickyfox is right. Apple products move way too fast. By the time you're looking into buying the first one, they're already on to the next. If you want, you could sell both iPods (They are either worth a lot by now, or the cheapest thing ever) and use the money to buy a new one.
I could decide to sell them but doing these commissions, I can just be able to earn enough to buy a brand new one. Basically I could just snag one knowing another one is in the works. Not like I want to snag one each time a new one comes out. Just one that can hold me til its no longer supported so thats a good number of years before I invest into another one
I'd say wait, but only for prices to drop. I think now is a good time to get a 5th gen, IF you want to spend the money for it. It's a good iPod, I have one. It looks like it'll last a long while after support for it stops. Maybe you can find a 5th with an old iOS 8.1 or something older. I haven't updated mine, it's jailbreakable still. And it works well and fast. ;D
I was also thinking on saving up on the 6th Gen but I was thinking if it was too soon to snag, since iOS 9 just came out
If i were you, try using other units. Like Samsung... ;-;'
