They do now since PayPal forced their hand, from my understanding. Used to be a DADT policy with PayPal, so the fact FA is working with PayPal (I think you have to for an API key with more than 10k reqs/mo) is super curious.

yeah a combination of 2 journals mentioning how it could be used as a trap plus the old news of what happened to FA years ago that made everyone change their password after leaked info was spread

Choosing to watch how the system plays out would be the far better option that risking my PayPal to be terminated or locked

Ko-Fi is great! It just harasses you to get their unnecessary "gold" service if you get like I think 10 kofis from it.

I think a lot of the cons are from people who don't quite understand how it works.

FA's system works extremely similar to Ko-Fi. There's no way to take funds from you, only give them to you. It really just takes you to a donation page that's built into every PayPal account, for the amount you chose on the shiny/ko-fi screen. It does use an API to verify that a transaction occurred in order to make the posts like one does with Ko-Fi, but that is only to verify, and has no means of influencing transactions or causing new ones or taking money away.

Edit: While I do not have visual access to FA's code, I've worked with PayPal's API in the past to implement this same functionality, and is why I'm familiar with the way it works.

Oh I'm not worried about funds being taken away. I'm more worried about the rules of PayPal on it's stance on NSFW content [i](of course I dont draw anything of that sort, only being just borderline Mature)]/i] and the fact of what happened to FA years ago being infiltrated and leaking private info publicly

As one of the journals mentioned that they would love to be proven wrong, it's better to be safe than sorry. So I just choose to wait and see how things will play out in the long run

If they worked with PayPal directly as they say, I'd be really curious. I know PayPal's typical stance, and I saw the rumors about what it could cause. I think artists who don't do NSFW at all have very little to worry about honestly, I'd be more worried about it being a trap for NSFW artists if anything. =<

yeah I can understand that, though I rather sit out and wait. I think my decision would sealed if one artist do get negatively hit, doubled if it was a SFW artist too x-x

I don't think the NSFW rules even apply to this. You're sending a donation to a person and not paying for goods with adult content. It's certainly not a bad idea to wait but I personally don't see much of an issue with it, in the regard of adult content.

yeah that's what I'm hoping atm. I want it to be something good for the artists here, though I'm going to watch how it plays out before really getting involved

I don't see how a breach could threaten your paypal if they only use the api to give you money.
