At least credit the artist for giving you the base and what not... I mean... I've taken a base (haven't modified it) and recolored it to always credit the person who made the base in the first place.

I myself have used linearts and bases, but I've always credited the artist properly, and sometimes i'll even link back to the original if the rules require it. It's the respectful, right thing to do.

and if it's a free base, WHY must someone steal that? To make it LOOK like they have "worked hard" to achieve that place in art? Pathetic.

Since he is unlikely to see this journal I will comment about the issue, but his intent does not appear malicious judging by his previous artwork. He just doesn't realize the purpose of the template.

And to be fair 'template' is defined as an object that serves as a model for others to copy, modify or shape. Your issue with it sounds more in the area of licensing in that regard.

The point is he TRACED it and claimed it as his own.

It's thievery and should be treated as such. End of story.

There, he modified the description to atribute the original author. You should not privately condemn someone for a singular mistake.

Being strict is better than letting someone escape with anything. Give them an inch and they run you over completely. This world is cruel, and if you do not adapt to that it will swallow you whole.

There is nothing wrong with your stance on the subject, but creating this journal and targetting him outside of his scope, thereby garnering hate towards him amongst your watchers was not constructive. I understand the main purpose of this journal was to vent, but you made no attempt to rectify the situation. All it took was a simple "hey, you traced that from x, you need to attribute/get permission/whathaveyou".

I have my ways, and you have yours.

I don't tell/direct people to hate on anyone.

I raise red flags when I see them and let the people confront it how they please.
If they decide to give aggression/hate? It wasn't my doing. They chose to comment on the situation with their own choice of words.
