Depending on what part of the cord and the brand you could likely get a replacement one for under 20$ at a radio shack. Its what I did for the DV6000 when it had a break in its cord and wouldn't provide power if it was in anything but the proper position. Think I paid like, 15$ or so. Just be sure to carry the cord so that the shack people have some point of reference. Some stores know their stuff, others couldn't tell you this from that.
