It's been about 7 months since I was told this, but I'm just starting to grasp the fact that I'm going to be an uncle..


Yesterday, I was at walmart. I was walking around buying stuff because I had some money to waste, and I need some new clothes. Well I walked by the baby section and thought "I still need to buy a baby shower gift for my sister, I might as well look while I'm here." So I started looking at some toys because I know she doesn't have very many yet. As I was standing there, holding this little rubber teething ring, I started imagining playing with my nephew in a few months, taking care of him or whatever, and I realized how much of an impact this little kid's gonna have on my life. He's going to be living in my house, eating with me, and his room is right next to mine, so every night he wakes up crying, I'll wake up too. He's going to be there, all day, for the first several years of his life and a big section of mine.

In about a year, he's going to be calling me Uncle Steve, or some baby version along those lines, and I'm going to care about him and worry about him, try to protect him from things.

He's going to change my entire life drastically and he's going to change me. Change who I am. And I don't really have a problem with that anymore.

I'm gonna be an uncle.
