laptop situation update

so my laptop has been continuously overheating and dying a lot over the past few weeks. I've had to do several system restores and it keeps telling me my harddisk is at risk, so, no good.
but, I should be getting a new laptop some time in the next few weeks.. until then I'm pretty much stalled on work. Trying to draw ends up with corrupt saves or the computer just overheating itself, and I'm scared of it just cooking itself like it did before when this was happening.
e_e'' so a few weeks... then I can hopefully get back on track. It's been a struggle with this thing, it's been on its last legs for a while now. but hey, can't complain for a laptop that is almost 8 years old.
I keep it off most days, because I need to back up more art and important files, and I can only do a little bit a day, so I'm still a bit out of touch in that regard. My sister's laptop is pretty cheap because it's $400.. It broke to a point where she can't close it anyways or else the top screen will fall off. Meep.
