'Avatar: the Legend of Aang''s emotionally strongest episode
10 years ago
If you're familiar with this awesome show, there are some thoughts I'd just like to share. If you're not, it's totally worth to watch it!
We all remember the 'Tales of Ba Sing Se' episode, right? Particullary, the part when Iroh goes to (possibly?) the place where his son was buried to honor his memory. He puts his portrait and lights some incenses under a tree and says "Happy Birthday, son", and starts to sing a song about young soldier who returns to home, he starts crying, and then the title 'In honor of Mako' appears.
Not only it pays tribute to Mako Iwamatsu, a brilliant actor who also voiced Iroh in the show and passed from esophageal cancer in 2006, but it also shows Iroh's feeling guilty for his son's death and - which is unusual for a family show - depicts possibly the most griveous thing a person can experience - a parent outlasting their own child. I've watched this moment for about dozen times and just can't stop crying like a puny bitch every time...
What do you thing about the Legend of Aang in whole and this episode particullary? Is there any favorite episode of yours? Leave a comment :)

I know exactly the moment you're talking about. I remember it precisely even though I watched it years ago. That show was transcendent and beautiful in more ways than I can enumerate.
