About Roleplaying:

Yea, I need to address this... The fact of Roleplaying, and how it seems to be treated in the Furry Fandom, or on The Internet in general...
What there is to say about it? Well, As far I see, RP is treated as a sexual act whenever it comes up. I see "No RP" signs, which either imply that person hates adventures like Dungeons and Dragons and asks to be spared from such adventures... Or what it actually implies: The internet seems to treat RolePlaying as a mere sexual game. Now for the record, I love Roleplaying Sex, not that I do that every day, but using RP simply to refer to a sex act is the dumbest thing I ever imagined complaining about. It's kind of similar to what made me snap into a rude, violent rant a few years ago, except here, it's Roleplaying we are talking about being mistreated. It's kind of like people only living for sex, or for "love", the form of relationship people seem to be unoriginal with the name of. People who are obsessed with Love to the point of not willing to change the topic for the sake of themselves, only talking about how they long for a special someone, or how happy they are with their mate... Same scenario for RP-s. Many people only do Sex Roleplay, not only in the Furry Fandom. The real meaning of Roleplay appears to be lost into the past.
I personally see Roleplaying as a co-operational way to write a story of Your own, with the first thing mandatory to do being, You guessed it, Making up a general plot for the entire story. Any form of Roleplay should follow a structure similar to writing a story. You develop the settings and the scenes, the happenings of the story, and the conflict that shall occur during them. It doesn't have to make sense, tho it would be weird to see a demented Roleplay about, I dunno, 2 dudes who go on a journey and find a golden mother statue, which disappears and instead, when they get home, the dudes are replaced with women for some reason and claim to have had sex. Not very consistent, is it?
One of the many forms of Roleplaying is done through Chatrooms or forums, even IMs on the internet. But most of the time, I have seen these are unorganized: Hence why people were free to develop a sexual stereotype to Roleplaying. Digital roleplaying developed many forms tho. Remember the text-based games called "MUD"s?.
M.U.D. stands for, in this context, Multi User Dungeon, and no, not BDSM dungeons... But any dungeons, mostly for combat purposes. These were the seeds for Online Roleplaying. Where did it go? It turned into the RPG Genre, Sandboxes used to roleplay, and MMOs. World of Warcraft is largely used as a Roleplaying System used to adventure in the Warcraft universe. Another Blizzard -albeit mostly single player- RPG is Diablo, where You are on the hunt for the demon king Diablo to save the land. But Roleplaying is NOT an online only thing:
Another way to RP is the Tabletop sollution, like GURPS, D&D, and other adventuring games that involve a sheet of paper/person, a Game master establishing the Story, with his own sheet of paper, and sometimes, the Playing board and figures. These are the games that led to the creation of RPG games Such as Elder Scrolls, Earthbound, Final Fantasy, Pokémon, and other Story driven Roleplays. None of which are sexual, or Sex oriented, but personally, I saw some that are. Ahem Ahem.
Yet Another form: Imaginate! Yea, some forms of Role Playing are computer-free, and as such, seriously offline, so I might end up speaking for nothing... But for the sake of rant, let me get a go at this one: Basically, you imagine the setting into your yard. A Childhood classic that should be kept. I don't say adults should not enjoy this either. An Airsoft rifle can be used to imaginate assasination. A simple adult sized cart can be imaginated as a car to be built, for the sake of fun. It's not really hard at all.
The topic of RolePlaying doesn't, I mean, Doesn't have to be Sex, again. I personally wish to make a RolePlaying game based in Visper-Nui, The New Island of Mata-Nui where Human Industry gives adventurers Weapons to fend for themselves in the wild, as multiple factions and Aliens threaten Your very existence. But the most popular form, from my point of view, seems to be a Medieval/fantasy setting, where knights fight trolls, dragons, and other monsters to save the kingdom. That's weird tho. This may seem to make Roleplaying worth only to do sex and combat... Which is where the problem may come from.
Trying to imagine a wider array of things to do in a Roleplay is a job of open-mind and a good fantasy. Sex and Fighting is the theme of most roleplays for the mundane reason: Because everything else seems boring. Just imagine a Roleplay about an office job! Not as attractive a game as, like, Sex or Combat, right? Neither anyone want's to roleplay... well, the list could be either meaningless or too long. The thing is: Combat can be very colorful and subsequently enjoyable, while sex is... well, You know how sex works. We are aroused people, we fap a lot. People on the internet also seem to be desperate, lonely, and very, very needy people, who want companion for their imagined sexual story. Not everyone is like this. In fact, Someone told me they find Sex Roleplay very boring. Makes sense, since all one does in sex is push and pull a dick into and out of a hole. Not much event for something that's supposed to be roleplay. Don't get me wrong tho... The clever person may end up showing up with sentences that are able to break the repetitive nature of Sex into something meaningful.
Take Amorous, made by
jasonafex . A game centered around Dating in sweet Detail, not only managed to make a Single Player Roleplay without fighting, but also made a meaningful story out of it, with a sex scene in it... Okay, maybe not meaningful... in fact, I am not really into romantic Stories, because I think it Should be a piece in the puzzle, and not the entire puzzle. Also, Amorous may be Linear -kindof- But maybe that's because I just couldn't hurt Poor Seth. The Sex Scene there was more than the repetitive humping, despite only having a Doggystyle in it. It was paraphrased more, and I mean, MORE in detail, and Don't think the game wrote 5 lines about A male protagonist humping a Green Feline in the Butt multiple times. The view from the window was paraphrased, the Sunshine was paraphrased, the inner thoughts of the characters, the sensation it caused... Things I don't even dare to look for whenever I Roleplay a sexual scene... I swear I'm bad at roleplaying SEX myself, because I feel I don't have much of a fantasy when it comes to sexuality. Not that I am a soulless person or anything... But I lack the fantasy, or the imagination to paraphrase Sex as Amorous did. Maybe I'm not the only person who's like this when it comes to Roleplaying Sex: Maybe more than one people just lack the imagination, and THAT's why it's hard for them to adapt to more meaningful roleplay scenarios, and are stuck with Sex. Or we are just lazy to get relationships, or to even think about adventuring at all, who knows.
The thing is, perception of RP has gone to such a low level, but ironically, the execution of sex roleplay is pretty lackluster as well. Maybe one day, the Internet learns to prescind from Sex and make up their mind with Roleplay, turning it back into a beautiful world of Adventure, Action, and Magic, with Violence and Sex being only pieces of the puzzles, not the entire point of them. Okay, Violence may be stressed more than sex. But still, the whole journey You do in a Roleplay Should be more than a single act, especially when it's repetitive humping.
Just as Polygamy is seen with harsh, judging eyes, so is the act of Roleplaying being reduced nowadays into a mere pervert stereotype. So I have some questions for My hopefully existent Audience:
1: What do you like to do in a RolePlaying game?
2: What is your favorite RPG, Tabletop or Virtual?
3: What do you think about the Perception of RolePlaying online?
4: Do You think People give too much key roles for Sex in Roleplaying?
5: What kind of scenarios would You recommend for a Roleplaying Game?

Really, the biggest problem with the whole "role playing" thing is how much everyone condemns sex so much when they put up those "NO RP" signs, kind of like putting up a "Straightfur" sign, which is more so a homophobic slur than an indication that you only want to date people of the opposite gender. Especially when the mere showing of the sign is hypocritical by nature (and believe me, I've seen too many cases...)
But yeah, the problems with the furry community is just that. It's a man made society grouped by those who have a common interest in animals or anthro animals, but being mostly internet based, we see the negative sides of the fandom so much more than most outside groups because there are no consequences for negative actions long as you're on the internet. Most of the biggest problems of the furry fandom come from the people who hypocritically talk down to others within the fandom, forgetting that furries are looked down upon already by most people anyway, and even worse when the most narcissistic types and haters make up the highest tier of furs or the vocal majority. (like the day cub art was banned from FA and everyone went on a witch hunt to condemn anyone who drew it as a sick pedophile...).
