Need help with vet bills. Looking for Donations/Commissions
10 years ago
So this is my first time doing something like this, so bear with me. Also a bit TLDR
I got my cat, Valentine about 8 years ago when she was a young adult. She was living in the street outside a friend's house, and he called her "Stubbles the porch kitty" since she was missing a back foot. I took her home and named her Valentine after the main character's sister in Ender's Game by Orson Scott Card.
Cut to 6 months ago - Valentine started getting really skinny and lethargic. After a couple vet visits we discovered the problem was with her kidneys, and started her on a prescription diet, daily medication, and fluids.
A month ago she got really bad. She stopped eating, drinking, and could barely move. I rushed her too my vet, and they didn't have anything they could do. I took her home, and doubled her fluids, and started giving her kitten formula with a bottle twice a day. For days she spent her days laying in the floor under my shelf, and her nights purring her head off while I bottle fed her and pet her until I couldn't stay awake. Against all odds she started to regain the weight, and eventually started eating solid foods again. She started getting more active, and I started getting hope back.
Two weeks again one of her paws was swelling and I took her back in. Turns out it was just fluids settling and not absorbing too fast, but they went ahead and ran blood tests to check some levels while she was there. Her numbers were terrible. After consulting an internal medicine specialist vet and talking about options and prices, we decided to give Valentine all the chance she could get, and go ahead with a blood transfusion to replace red blood cells, and medications to keep her condition in check.
Valentine had Feline Chronic Kidney Disease. It is a serious but treatable condition. And she can live for years with proper care.

With careful research I should be able to get her medications and supplies for about $60-70 per month, with is fine.
Unfortunately, all the vet visits and treatments in the past month have added up to about $3,000 on my credit card.
The bill is going to be due November 8th, and at least until then I'm going to be picking up extra shifts at my job, working seven days a week if I'm able. But I'd like to see if anybody would be willing or able to help me get out of this hole.
I have a list of things I can send to people for donations, and I'll be opening up a few commission slots, as well as selling off some previous projects, to try to raise enough to get this bill payed off before the interest gets too bad.
FOR ALL DONATIONS
My paypal is Seagullprophet[at]yahoo.com
Please put "For Val" in the subject line, then the letter for the reward/thanks you would like. Some things have very limited quantity, so I'm going to have to make it a first come first served basis.
Also every little bit helps, so please spread this journal around if you can, and if you'd like to donate some artwork just note or email me the details and I'll add it to the list.

G. $100 Donation : SURPRISE CRAFTING SPREE I will make you something amazing with my current crafting supplies, mostly paint, felt and thread, based around an animal or theme of your choice. The finished piece will be flat enough to hang on your wall, and will be a minimum of 30 hours work. For an example, Badge buddies and puppets take an average of 10 hours to complete. (ONLY ONE AVAILABLE) The perfect option if you want to help out a lot, and you like putting sections on your wall in the hands of a near stranger.
Well, that's all I've got for now. I'll be adding to this list as I go. I'll probably be seeing if there are any plushies I can part with, and start up a bit of a virtual garage sale. Any sharing of this journal is greatly appreciated, and any advice on fund raising would be great too. I didn't want to make a GoFundMe since they take at least 3%.
Thanks for reading, and currently Valentine is doing great! She's still gaining weight, and is active and loving as ever.
