School Mascot Volunteer Job?
Hopefully the title caught your attention!
I'll start with the beginning of the story, since that's usually where stories begin.
As a select few of you know, I've been slowly commissioning fursuit parts. My most recent one has been my character's head made by
lunarhowler23. I also have a tail, purchased at Anthrocon 2014 and a pair of hand paws.
On Saturday, I wore these items to a local Halloween event. Some of you local to me may know of Anne Marie Gardens and their annual gathering where local companies hand out candy to the kids and try to sell their products or information to the adults. I went there with my daughter and her siblings and wore my fursuit pieces. It was an excellent time both for them and myself! They got to run around and get candy and I got to wear my fursuit stuffs out in public for the first time. Got a hug from a random young woman that immediately identified me as a furry and multiple photos were taken by those that saw me. When the kids were occupied with a game at one of the tables some children even wanted high fives!
With that, it brings me to the point of this journal. With my partial still on, I was approached by a PTA member of my daughter's elementary school. She introduced herself and explained that the school was having trouble finding a suitable mascot suit. She asked me quite a few questions about my head, tail and hand paws like 'Where did I get them' and 'Who made them.' Of course I answered truthfully. She even asked if I could come to the school this coming Friday for an event. After declining the invitation as I work this friday, she gave me her phone number and asked me to call her later.
The school's mascot is a wolf.
I'm a wolf.
Should I let my fursona become a mascot?
There's also the question of if they would pay to complete my fursuit or if they would prefer to go and commission a whole new one. (I can't really see them doing the latter as they are a PTA and probably don't have all the funds for something like that.)
What's are your thoughts?
