About future commissions
Scribbling nonsense all across the board like jaguars leaping from trees of leather bodices encasing aged withered corpses whose eyes dazzle with the light of one million and three silver satellites flying over Los Angeles hiding illegal immigrants from Irish potato farms built atop the golden ruins of El Dorado filled with demonic Ewoks hurling tremendous tankards of tons of Tylenol at the panda bear ninjas that hide around every corner of the magic square building trying desperately to pull up its skirt and set roots on another cubic square inch of the board upon which I am scribbling nonsense.
I've finally finished off all the commissions in the main commission list, this only leaves the overflow queue, but I'm going to put those off for a couple weeks, I'd like to get some time in to work on my own stories in the meantime plus I have a big project for college that's going to be due soon and I really need to start getting it done sooner rather than later.
I have been thinking though about what exactly to do whenever I next open up for commissions. The last time was a train wreck in every sense of the word, I really didn't handle it well at all, I had thought that it would make things fair if I spoke with everyone at the same time so they could all have a fair chance to get in, but I didn't realize just how hectic it would be to talk to seven people all at once.
So for the next time I'm thinking I might try doing it something like this:
-May or may not have another announcement a few days in advance.
-When the journal officially opening commissions is opened, people will have a day, maybe two, to post and say their interest.
-I will speak with each person one at a time in order to determine what they want.
-When the time is up, no further applicants will be admitted.
-At this point, I will choose myself which applicants will be entered in the queue; there will be no random selection, it will simply be entirely based on how I feel. Factors for decision will include:
+How well the word counts fit together into the total amount I'm taking for the queue.
+Longer stories that have already been started in previous queues may have priority to ensure they get finished eventually.
+Conversely, clients who have already gotten overly long stories in recent commission rounds may have less priority to ensure that there are more openings for others.
+New clients or clients who haven't gotten anything from me in a while may also have priority so more people can have a fair chance to get things.
+Personal preference on my part for whatever the subject matter may be, I'm more likely to be invested in a commission I find enjoyable after all.
I hope to streamline this process as much as possible.
