Hey guys... (Warning, language)
Just an update.. things were going decently, more or less (read: we were scraping by), but this last week's been just one really stupid thing after another.
I've NEVER had financial trouble in my life; this year's just been awful.
So anyways, we took our truck in to get the heater fixed, which should have been around a $200-300 fix. (We had just spent around $2000 on this stupid thing to get it to actually work properly about two months ago.) Yea, we can't really afford it, but we can't really drive around in the fucking Canadian winter, either. So we sucked it up and took it in.
Turns out it (supposedly) needed about $1200 worth of fixes so it wouldn't explode, so we paid that. AND THE HEATER STILL DOESN'T FUCKING WORK. They were supposed to call me today to book me in to get it fixed up again for free, but they didn't. Fuckers. I guess I'll call them tomorrow and figure out why they didn't call me back. Or I'll molotov their shop, I don't know yet.
Anyways, most of you know our one set of tenants hasn't paid since May. (They owe over $9000, but we can't really kick them out because there are no other renters in that town right now so we just hold onto the hope that they'll start paying again now that they say they have jobs. They did pay us $300 not super-long ago so that's a start.). So there's that.
But now, we've spent all this time thinking that we'd get back about $4000 from the government once we filed our other T4 slip (which was missing because our employer went out of business, and we couldn't get ahold of them in any way to get this fucking thing sent to us). So, we finally have that T4 now after tracking the bastards down for months, and also finally got the fucking government codes sent in the mail to get online and change our return, only to find out that the government already reassessed our taxes and is saying we owe over $1200. (I forgot the actual number at this point because I'm not dealing with that tonight; it can wait until tomorrow.)
I'm having a really hard time, Fenris, not taking the Lord's name in vain for you as that's my go-to angry curse library. FUCK.
I was going to get by doing just enough commission work while doing tattoos to keep Jux at home a little sooner, so he's not so depressed/suicidal,but now it seems we really just have to tough it out until May when one of our mortgages is complete and hopefully by that time I'll be tattoing. I just hope I can make his life good enough that he's OK that long.
So now really the only thing I can do is just finish up my current commission list and not take any more unless I need small things that we can't afford, because our only solid hope is for me to get really good at tattooing and start actually making money as soon as possible. It's not like I have all day for this shit; we can't afford daycare as I guess some of you know we have a daughter, so it's me who's home all day with her now. That's why I'm only online in the evenings and my art output has slown to a bare crawl. Just busy all day. Every day.

Feel free to tell me how much you hate the government and our capitalist pig society and swear loudly about how stupid it all is. Or maybe hugs, fuck if I know.
Also if you wanna draw really quick shitty sketches of Sephren crushing skulls and tossing blood everywhere and getting shot full of arrows or whatever, that would actually probably make me feel kind of better. Or like eating taxes or being REALLY ANGRY or something. I don't know. But don't do something more than a stupid sketch or I'm gonna feel bad that you're taking time on me when I really just would like some company to tell me that everything sucks sometimes.
I'm not really an easily angered person but I'm pretty pissed off that we have to struggle so hard to even just get by right now. Imagine how many less-well-off-than-us people just can't get through the government and societal bullshit and are losing their homes or whatever because they can't make the system work for them.
I'd already be vehicle-less and biking everywhere and foraging for most of our food if it wasn't so FUCKING COLD IN THIS COUNTRY and the biking in this city is absolutely stupidly treacherous as the roads are all fucking highways full of people who don't even understand the concept of a 4-way stop. I'm not a rage driver but I had to actually honk at some dumbass the other day who seriously did not understand that it was not his turn to go, not even in the slightest, and he almost crashed into me had I not abruptly stopped midway into my very casual turn. The guy was behind another TWO people that were supposed to go before him and he was like, nah, bro, I'm just gonna go straight.
Seriously considering relocating to a place we can actually bike and just seeing if I can make ends meet that way. If his job didn't pay so much I'd do it right now. I'd also consider moving in with some people if that came up but it's too draining to even look right now; we'll just maintain what we're doing as best we can until we can figure out a better way.

Get this, too, every year around this time our property taxes come in as LATE, even though we have the mortgage company doing it because we pay extra into our mortgage for it. And of course, like clockwork, we juts got a letter AGAIN today for this year saying we owe the $770, plus a late fee of $77. So that's just one more stupid waste of time I have to deal with to make sure we're not mistakenly paying TWICE for this fucking thing.

Did they get the heater fixed? That sounds...very expensive...more than it should be by far. What kind of truck? So the heater wouldn't explode...sounds like you had a plugged heater core, the little control valve went bad, needed a thermostat, or the radiator itself had a plugged line (if you overheated the whole truck). If there's too much pressure in a radiator with weak lines, you can alleviate that by just having it on the first stop, so it doesn't build pressure. Just carry a spare jug or two of coolant in case of boil over.
Unless everything is very compact and hidden...or you needed a brand new radiator instead of a used one...I don't know how it could cost so much... O.O
Dotter is not wrong. Unless they're paying utilities you can't take on right now on the rental home, or unless they take good care of the property (many don't), they need to find a new place. Some try to skate by paying nothing and trash the place to boot. You don't need that. If they're not paying the utilities and those get turned off, you'll get stuck with the bill for getting them turned back on. (Do you have a landlord agreement with the utility companies? Then you'd at least get a notice if they're eligible for disconnect...and know if they're not paying those either.) The last thing you need are burst pipes.
Yea... I don't even know man. I just hope that they didn't do a bunch of work we didn't need; I have no idea. They had to do like 3 rad flushes and it was still dirty so they sent us home; heater's still not working but they told us they'd replace the .... thermostat? (Can't remember now) .. for free because they hadn't fixed the problem yet, so hopefully that's what the problem is.
Yea, they're paying utilities. And they seem to really want to keep the house in good shape. It's supposed to be a rent-to-own, and I legitimately believe they had job trouble and are now working, so I'm just very forgiving suppose, but I was willing to give them the benefit of the doubt. Now that we've sent them frustrated letters and an eviction, they've started paying, but it also coincides with them working again, so I really don't think they meant to mess us up like this. It's the lack of communication, for the most part, that has me the most bothered.
$2k for three radiator flushes is still extreme. They must not be backflushing the heater core. A thermostat might do it. A stainless steel one will last better than a brass one, if available for that model. A total coolant change should run under $100 (not counting extra time, but...even say $200...). If it's that dirty, did they replace the water pump and belt? That might be part of the cost. Some of those are a pain.
Maybe get a promissory note from them regarding getting caught up by a payment plan, to show you're understanding but not undercutting your legal rights by not evicting when you had opportunity.
Yeah, I drive clunkers, and can't afford new or recently used. ^^;
If people took better mechanical care of their vehicles, you wouldn't have this issue. I'm sorry... :(

Consider keeping it in storage in a garage or building, if you still have it. They're very few and far between here to see one.
If I had somewhere for one, I thought they were cute little cars. ^^ Constantly needing tie rod ends meant something else must have been wearing out, though. They should last quite awhile on such a small car.
