In such a case I'd say he's less a champion of free expression and more just a douchebag trying to piss people off.

Not necessarily, at least in my mind. It's the intent behind it. If he's doing it to make a statement about freedom, cool. If he's doing it to provoke anger because he knows it'll get a rise out of people, as he may or may not have done with the Lemonade suit, then it's just being an asshat. He's still within his rights to do it, but I don't necessarily respect him for it in such a case. Knowing furries and how many of them lack any kind of good sense, I strongly suspect it's the latter.

That said, I'd never condone any acts of hatred in return regardless. I also find the ones crying about "feeling unsafe" because of it laughable. It's a fursuit, not someone dressed in Klan gear lighting crosses on fire.
