I've graduated the Aardman academy! I'm an animator now
10 years ago
Update at long last!
I've graduated the Aardman Academy and now have a certificate in character animation along with my degree so yaaay! We also have a work placement so hoping I get to work with Wes Anderson (fantastic Mr fox)!
My showreel can be seen here if you're interested: https://vimeo.com/148612183
I also got to meet Nick Park and Peter Lord who are my childhood Heros at an Aardman party which was totally amazing! They are such humble, kind people and have a great sense of humour!
In addition to all this... I have also come away from this course with a special someone I met there and we just work so well together! Argh I'm so happy!
Anyway, I'm flying back home tomorrow and I'll get on with commissions the coming week so if you're waiting, I'll be messaging you soon! I still have a few slots open so there is still time to grab a few things before Xmas. I'll also start on the wolfdog fursuit for auction.
And finally, I'd like to thank all my new watchers, sorry I haven't responded individually, it's been a hectic few months animating but I really appreciate all the support. :)

Also, huge congrats! I'll be joining you in the career type job this coming summer myself but at an accounting firm. :)
As for your question, the metal thing is a rig which supports the character. The puppets are usually tied down with a screw and wingnut via a hole in the table but when they jump, we use a rig to support them. (There is a small hole in the side of the puppet to attach it to). The metal bit is always edited out in post production which is why you've not seen it before but it's used all the time in stop frame! The gryphon was on one all the time because he didn't have any tie down points haha as he wasn't an actual puppet, just a posible art doll I had.
