Depending on the platform, I might get this game eventually. MK9 was a pretty good reboot and this one looks similar. When they first announced Freddy for the last game, I naturally thought "well fuck, what about Jason?" At least they got to him eventually, though I always figured that there'd be no perfect way to portray him in a fast-paced fighting game since he's so slow. Even here he moves entirely too fast but the moveset they chose for him isn't bad. Jason just have occasional bursts of speed in the movies that humorously offset is plodding pace so this is kind of like those bursts but permanent. The character design is good, though.

I have to say though, one issue modern Mortal Kombats have is that the Fatalities don't have the same impact considering that about 30 things you did prior to it should have ALSO been a fatality. It's like, yeah, he sliced you in half Scorpion but, walk it off, already. You shrugged off the machete through the skull two or three times, stop being a little wuss.

I wasn't able to get MK9 unfortunately. This one is pretty similar though and slightly improved. The game feels pretty good and it has it's oldschool mechanics back in which winning depends more on strategy and perfect timing rather than smashing buttons or doing endless combo chains (although I miss that from Deadly Alliance). I do feel Fatalities are more a nostalgic thing rather than to impress, since the x-ray attacks are far more brutal, well thought and in real life you would simply be dead. Good thing is that you can use them as finishers and they count as Brutalities. I don't know how to do it though.

And hey, Leatherface will be in the game in a couple of months from now, so it'll be nice to put him against Jason.

Are they actually going to have Leatherface or are you just musing on it? If so, what, does the MK franchise think it just owns all the horror icons, now? Of course, Leatherface was never nearly as good as he was in the original 1974 film. Ever seen it? Brilliant.

I think the fatalities would be better if the camera angle didn't change. It makes it seem like a separate cutscene. In the old ones, MK1, 2, and 3, they felt more like part of the fight, an emphatic end. But they also had the privilege of not being overly violent en route to that point.
