I Just Watched Star Wars: The Force Awakens [SPOILERS!]

Okay, I just want to start off saying that if you like Star Wars or are thinking of seeing the new movie, then go see it and read no further until you have!
Alright, while The Force Awakens is technically a good movie on its own, I honestly found it to be a disappointment.
Why? Well first of all, instead of trying to make an original Star Wars movie, they went way out of their way to imitate A New Hope, to the point where I felt that they had ruined a potentially great movie. The prequels may have been bad, but at least they were original.
Secondly, Kylo Ren, the antagonist, was not at all intimidating. His helmet looked like a paintball mask and only looked somewhat decent when he had his hood on, which unfortunately he rarely did. Once he removed his helmet, he looked like a kid dressed for Halloween or like a bad cosplayer.
With that said however, I do recommend that people go watch The Force Awakens. It currently has a rating of 95% on Rotten Tomatoes and a lot of people seem to like it, so maybe you will too.

They built up such a monstrous hype machine for this movie that I frankly don't see how it could have been anything except disappointing.

I actually didn't have any high expectations. For me, the disappointment was due to The Force Awakens trying to be A New Hope instead of its own movie.
