I had changed it to what I thought was cool to what fit me better. I had a very stylish black and white furred wolf as the original, a blue with black back striped fox which sort of fit my personality better, then I went to a more mundane Boer goat, which was actually suggested by a non-fur of all things. I realised that a goat just fit me so much better, so I stopped making things look cool, and just made things look to match me.

I am of the older generation of furs, and have noticed that those of us who were active in the fandom in the early 2000s do seem to be a bit more "soulbound" to our 'sonas than millennials.

I guess it depends on what you feel your fursona means to you. Most furs (who got together on text only MUCKS and MOOS back in the day) had to think very hard about what creature truly represented how they conduct themselves, and spent a long time coming up with textual descriptions and back stories.

People seem to be able to chop and change more often now, and I suspect this is down to the change of the nature of the fandom over the years.

Ultimately you have to fit in where you feel most comfortable.

I gave up on having a fursona, I just can't seem to create a character that I feel totally reflects me.
ANd later, I look at it and think, its kind of dull and boring to make a character thats basically a "furry Me/What I would look like if I was an Anthro animal" Cause Im ME in the real world, in a different world Id rather be someone or something else.
SO I basically made Characters, each of them different and diverse. But I put a Little bit of myself into them. Like ONE personality trait.

I personally dont see anything wrong with having multiple Fursonas, its kind of like what Im doing where you can't just put your whole identity behind one design.
Fursona changes, well people charge over time and like to reinvent themselves to reflect a new them, so Im all for it if they feel that the current Fursona isn't them anymore

No, well, I think you can imagine what I think about fursona changes. Sometimes you just need a change.

And multiple sonas are ok, too.
But it's not a thing for me, because I don't want to handle two sonas, but on the other hand I would never give away my fox and my african wild dog and I can imagine to make commissions with them. They still represent me and my past somehow.

I'd say go for it! Personally I handle the problem by having a shitload of anthroversion for my characters. If I feel like exploring another species/anthroconcept I spend time with said chara in said form by doing art or worldbuilding and that mostly satisfies my need.
I don't really feel the urge to change my main sona (even if I sometimes feel more like the bull part and less than the cat part but whatever) but there is nothing wrong with having two representations of you. Maybe some days you feel more like the wild boar. Other days more like the bison. It's a visual representation of you so why shouldn't there be more ways to express yourself?

I have three fursonas! One main, though. I have three because they represent three different parts of me - my main 'sona (an aardvark) is the person I want to become, a life goal sort of. I also have one that represents me for what I currently am. She's a clumber spaniel. I have, sadly, become more and more detached to her the last year because I've changed so much from when I created her. My third 'sona represents my mind, they're my soul so to speak. A weird genderless hybrid thing.

I think multiple fursonas is something good, because sometimes one character just isn't enough to describe a person. Though, of course it's always more handy to have only one. xD

I have no opinion on changing 'sonas a lot, really. You gotta find what you feel comfortable with and what fits you. It can probably be a bit confusing for your watchers but in the end it's all up to you.

I personally don't think I'd ever work for me to change my fursona (I tried but I'm too attached to it) but I think it's perfectly fine. People change, discover new stuff - it's normal. And the concept of two fursonas is fine as well. I have a few characters that respresent me, I wouldn't call them fursonas, but it's basically the same.

I stopped trying a while ago and just have a handful of characters and an 'avatar' who basically represents my work like a mascot but not necessarily me myself? In the end it's down to the person, how they see themselves and what makes them happy, imo.
