Yule
Gather round all children of furr-ed tail and claw,
To hear a tale of the sun's rotation,
That's something of a natural law.
To the "ones who know" of the spirits gift,
As days grow cold and nights grow long.
A time called Yule where the moon doth lift,
And the sun retreats from nature's song.
But why store trees? Decorated and evergreen?
A witch may hold them for the spark,
So nature's light may again be seen.
After the coldest month of dark.
And presents? What purpose do they hold?
On the shortest day when all lights depart.
Humans also feel the cold,
We exchange gifts to warm the heart.
So remember:
During the darkest of days when the lights all go out.
We do not cry and do not pout.
We find the light from deep within and share it with our friends and kin.
These are all the traditions of this time of year,
A teaching that I say you hold.
Give a gift to the ones you hold dear,
And survive this time of dark and cold.
