I'm not entering this time around, but I checked my place on the priority queue just to see where I was, and saw something I wanted to point out.

Last time I commissioned you, you said you'd hide all the expired/claimed comments on the giant list from one batch when moving to the next, and it was okay to re-add myself to the list. It doesn't look like you got around to that, so I'm accidentally on the list twice D: (a few months apart)

I'm not sure if I should take down my earlier comment or not, I don't want to mess with any system you might have in place. Just thought I'd throw that out there!

I tend to go through and update everything right as I'm picking people and about to start working, so it's likely that since I've been on a break from working for a while, I simply never got around to erasing one. It should all be sorted out come Monday, no worries! Though if you feel like going and hiding your used up spot I certainly wouldn't mind having to do a little less work. x3 That's up to you, but it shouldn't be an issue either way.

My plan is essentially to work through the entire list and then close it down. I'll transition from working from the list to simply doing a more of a first-come-first-serve method, or something like that. I imagine I'll be working from the list for quite a while, but as I get through it fewer and fewer of the people signing up should be on it- eventually, nobody who signs up will be on it, and at that point I'll ditch it. At that point I'll just do the first-come method, or maybe just pick whatever ideas interest me... haven't really decided how I'll do things just yet.

Either way, for you guys it's pretty much the same thing- just keep tossing your name into my commission journals and sooner or later you'll probably get picked! :P

Personally, as a client I find first-come-first serve method painful -- living in Central Europe means that any "I'm taking new commissions!" message is long past filled when I get to see it.

I also think that in your case, the "Give me your ideas and I'll choose X of them" might be the best, as it would allow you to experiment, touch on more topics and avoid pigeonholing so many artists here on FA fall into so badly.

When ever I miss a commission journal. I offer to pay more for a reservation for their next round. some artist will allow this. this pretty much secures you a slot but cost a little bit more.

I also stumbled on an interesting commission "queue" idea if you are willing to deal with Patreon:

Each person interested in commissions is donating their preferred amount monthly and their contributions are tallied up. When these contributions come up to "Value of a single character", they are eiligible for a picture they paid already. At that point, they can either enter the queue immediately or wait for later, donating to get a better/larger commission.

the only problem with doing commissions on patreon is that it excludes people out that don't use patreon and I've seen this backfire for some artist that did this.

the first come first serve can work if rules are placed in to make it fair like for example. Giving a time wait for people that already bought a commission so that other people get a chance or placing a 5 slot reservation list were some people can pay extra to secure a spot so that they get a slot on the spot

First-come-first-serve definitely isn't my long term plan, just something to fall into while I figure out how I want to go about things. I definitely want to make things fair to all timezones somehow, and I also don't want it to always be 'whoever has the most money wins', though I might add one or two spots for folks willing to put up a bit more... I'm kind of toying with the idea of having everyone toss in their ideas and just picking whatever I like, though that also kinda feels icky.

I'm not entirely sure about patreon, I've been rolling the idea around my head for a while, it's another thing I'll think about.
