Are you sure? there is going to be another Star Trek movie soon, I believe it's called Star Trek Beyond.
And JJ got still two more SW movies to mess it up. :P

Oh, Star Trek died with JJ's first movie in the "reboot". Every Trek movie since then has just been beating on the quite dead horse.

to be fair, i'm not a trekkie and never really watched all of what is there on star trek, thus i find the reboot quite ok. In star Trek they atleast took a parallel universe as an excuse for making their own story of it.

Disney on the other hand just declared the EU of SW non-canon. :I

Ah, I didn't realize Disney had stepped on the canon so badly. I suppose I'm seeing the new Star Wars movie from the same perspective you saw the new Star Trek movie. I've never been that much of a Star Wars fan. I saw the first set of movies from the 70s and 80s and I saw one of the prequels. I have little knowledge of anything else that was considered canon from Star Wars books, MMOs, etc.

I wouldnt say that force awakens is a bad movie, if you ignore all the books, games and whatnot that exist of SW (now called extende universe and non-canon), it's actually quite great (tho i quite disliked the performance of adam driver as kylo ren, reminded me of young annie for Ep 2 and 3 <.<).

I've played some SW games and read about many characters from books and such, my fav (except Knights of the old republic) is Jedi Knight. I like the character Kyle Katan and was quite sad that disney decided that way. Oh well, we'll see how they milk this cash cow.
