I took no money, nor had the auction ended(it had 5 days to go).

This is the only time I've done this but I'm sure none of my commissioners want less then my best. I refuse to sell something and take someone's money when I don't find the product I'm selling up to quality of my other work. I find that more protecting a customer from buying something that isn't the quality of my other work.
Because commissioners are not business partners, they are clients/customers. They aren't going in with me on selling prints, they are paying me for the service to draw their characters and their ideas. And a bidder who hasn't signed my TOS yet isn't either, they bidding for the service but they haven't become a client yet.
Also ebay allows auctions to be cancelled early. And I find 'lack of quality' to be a valid reason. I want what I sell to be a "High" quality and market it as such(for my skill level) and I found that auction to not be at that standard.
So I apologize if you don't agree with my reasoning but to me, this is better for everyone.

I was the lead bidder for that particular auction. I wasn't pissed that it was canceled. No money had changed hands and nothing had been signed, as was stated. An artist withdrawing an offer due to quality control seems responsible to me. I'd rather have that than someone delivering a shoddy product.
I've seen orangy's art style and I love it and knowing that there are standards she holds herself to makes me more confident in buying from her in the future. I know I'm not going to be ripped off.
