The problem with fursonas overall is that people will always have similarities. There are only so many combinations in the world of colors and shapes and what not. I mean what it comes down to is that you know you didn't copy it, so no need to be worried ya know? Hopefully the color change works.It just sucks when you have to change a design, especially if you fall in love with it ya know?

That's exactly my feeling but I really don't want to disrespect the owner of the other design by keeping Aspen so similar to theirs. I'm getting used to the color change, it's not even that noticeable. :3

I wouldn't change anything about Aspen and wouldn't be discouraged into making him into a suit. I would talk to the person you got him from and see what they think is best since they're the person who designed them. I will say sometimes it can be an honest mistake but don't feel bad if you have your superstitions. There is a difference between being inspired and straight up copying. If you see too many similarities in one design compared to yours it's pretty obvious that their DAD is a copy. I hope my input helps in someway, Good luck!

I think the one I bought came after the other design which is why I'm so worried. I just decided to quietly change his colors a bit to avoid any accusations. It's just a bit discouraging because Aspen is the only D.A.D. character/design I've liked enough to buy and want to make into a suit. :/

Ah okay, i suppose thats okay as well but i think doing what makes you feel more comfortable but not discouraged into making Aspen into a suit then you could redesign him if the designer allows minor changes. As confronting someone about a design can be stressful you have your right to talk about it with the designer and they shouldn't take it personally. If you want someone else to talk to them and then pass on the message im here for you!

This has become a rising issue with creating or adopting original fursonas. There's only so many color combinations and patterns that you can really work with. Unfortunately because of this, people like to hop on their high horse and accuse others of stealing! When in reality it's very hard to create completely original characters that don't look like anyone else's. Take Tayerr for example. That Tayerr suit has the colors green, black, white and grey. Which after Tayerr was created, the color combo began to be seriously overused, and all eventually, started to look the same. Black body, green stripes on the arms, etc. But these shouldn't be considered Tayerr look-alikes, because they're just stripes. Seriously, who cares? People in the furry fandom like to act like the furry police. It's quite the nuisance. I had a few people tell me that I look like Gale, because I'm purple, black and blue too. Seriously? Ebony looks NOTHING like Gale. It's just the matter of specific color combos that seem to draw the "look alike" attention towards suits/characters.
I wouldn't worry about it, honestly. There's always going to be a character somewhere out there that looks similar to yours. It happens. My advice is to just shrug it off. Don't be discouraged because they look a tad similar in design c:
