Does anyone save images these days? [Copied from IB]
9 years ago
Curiosity mode:
1. Does anyone save pics/images/art on their computer these days? Specifically furry stuff off IB etc.
2. Why? Just to have it more conveniently accessible, satisfaction of possession, some other reason..?
3. How? Just the good 'ol "Save as..." or fancy browser extensions or even scripts?
4. Do you go the extra mile as well and take backups etc.?
Here's my two pennies to make things fair:
1. I do! Some, sometimes.
2. Both examples mentioned in the question, plus I will feel comfort over still having my favorites when the Internet has collapsed and we fight each other for stale water. :P
3. Drag to save extension where it works, Save As where it doesn't.
4. I back up my originals, and my save folder(s) kinda hitch the ride. Please, I'm not too obsessive. >>;
EDIT:
Wow, I had no idea there would be so many replies! Thanks everyone, I feel more normal now with my saving habits, hehe. x3
Since it's related to the topic, I installed a Chrome extension today that allows me to save HD versions of the images easily on Tumblr. I wish there was a similar extension fro Twitter, since screenshoths seem to be the only way to save images from tweets with multiple images. <<;

1. Yes, if its a pic I particularly like or would like to learn from. I've become a lot more picky over time.
2. Like said in 1. so I can study a picture and maybe learn a little how to draw better. I've seen more than 1 artist delete their gallery and disappear. Also wank material of course.
3. I just Save As.
4. Nope. I probably should.
Yes. I don't want to rely on the internet archiving it all - it makes art harder to track and find (specifics in mind, not whole artists or whatever), and sometimes artists go and delete all their work later.
2. Why? Just to have it more conveniently accessible, satisfaction of possession, some other reason..?
With it saved, I have very easy and sorted access to what I've saved anytime, and it's protected from attempted deletion by anyone else.
3. How? Just the good 'ol "Save as..." or fancy browser extensions or even scripts?
I save images the usual Save As way, and add it to my personal Hydrus collection. Then it's saved and tagged, making finding images with certain themes or characters a breeze.
4. Do you go the extra mile as well and take backups etc.?
Not often, although I really should. I've had hard drive failures before.
Yes, I do, but I usually only save really special images or ones that I really like.
2. Why? Just to have it more conveniently accessible, satisfaction of possession, some other reason..?
Because I roamed the internet in the days of yahoo groups and there are a lot of images fro mthem that didn't make it to current image databases from artists who are either no longer alive, or who quit before places like e621 came around.
3. How? Just the good 'ol "Save as..." or fancy browser extensions or even scripts?
usually a good right click and save for the images, but sometimes I need to do special things for animated files.
4. Do you go the extra mile as well and take backups etc.?
Occasionally, but it's not always easy to have places to back my files up TO.
So on chrome, I use flash video downloader, though this also isn't 100%. Still, I'm often able to twist and alter some things and access the true files off of some places.
Except youtube, youtube has an anti flash downloader thing.
2. I have a Gallery, and I have an AlTOONative Gallery. One for clean images, one for, well, images like the request of La Pimpa you did for me. Most of the shows/movies/"providers" (I mean Disney, Dreamworks etc.) have their own folders, partly each character! ^^ I quit on the Pokemon folder; now all the Pikachus, Umbreons, Liepards etc. are in one folder again... ^^;
3. "Datei speichern unter" ("save as") where it works, screenshot and copypasting into a fresh or already existing PNG (under new name) where it doesn´t.
4. No money for a backup HDD, but it would be a good idea. I use an extern Toshiba HDD... <:-$
Depending on how much stuff you have to backup, you could use one of the free cloud services? ^^
