10 hasn't fucked me over or rendered me sterile yet.

*shrugs* gotta dig and turn a few things off but other than that it's not bad.

I'm sure it's overwhelmingly fine, but it's hard to find anything that isn't distressingly negative or annoyingly dismissive.
I also run very expensive Adobe products, which happen to be the absolute worst in regards to security of your purchase and which I couldn't afford replacing, so I'm already on edge about moving to a new OS, let alone one that just came out and seems to take a lot more liberties than previous versions :T

I give 10 a vote of confidence. I upgraded my laptop from 7 and it works fine so far. All the updates have gone smoothly, though there are quite a few of them.

That's good to hear. How long have you been using it?
I hear it's been pretty vigorous about it's updates, which is kind of reassuring and kind of stressful for a variety of reasons <_>

I installed it maybe a month ago, but I've only really been using the machine for the past two weeks. I didn't need my laptop at the time, so I just let it sit and checked to update it occasionally. It installed over everything alright, everything still works and all; I haven't lost any data or programs.

10 has been working fine for me and I haven't found anything major to complain about. I'm also running Adobe CC on mine (yay art student), and it's actually running better than before I upgraded, though that might just be because I went FAR too long without reformatting. XD A lot of things I had on 7 that I'd had to download and customise and whatnot are actually part of 10 now; news, weather, alarms, social media, etc., so it's actually made my life juuuust a tad easier. XD

Ten has some annoying things I can live with, but nothing major. Like Nyss said, it hasn't fucked me over yet and it is better than 8. I run all manner of art software including Adobe products no problem. All of machines run it now, including the HTPC and my Surface Pro 3.

i should add we all did the upgrade (not a clean install) and everything went fine. one of the very annoying and not ok things it did was uninstall a couple system maintenance programs i had installed/updated (speccy, ccleaner for example) all of which i just reinstalled and hasn't touched since.

if you are worried about something going awry, i strongly suggest doing backups/system images to an external hard drive if you don't already.

Thanks for the specific feedback, it pretty much covered the points that most reviews elsewhere were leaving vague. I heard that an earlier 10 update was notorious for removing specifically those and similar programs.

Otherwise, I do make regular backups, I'm just paranoid, hah. Technology is expensive and difficult to afford to deal with sometimes.

Incidentally, how is the Surface Pro??

i REALLY like it! i bought a used surface pro 3 with all the trimmings on the cheap when the surface pro 4 rolled out. i also purchased the superior surface pro 4 pen which works with the SP3 tablet. i don't really use it for much arting (i bought it to replace my laptop which was like 7 years old and still running XP) but it does in a pinch. some programs don't seem to want to recognize the pressure sensitivity, but most of the ones i use (manga studio 5, for example) work great with it.

ive used 10 basically since it came out and i like it. ive only had one issue with it, and it was entirely my fault, so :L id recommend it.

edit: i use photoshop CS5 and its all worked fine after the upgrade, as has SAI and firealpaca <:

10 is the best since 7. I haven't had a single issue yet, but I've only had my new laptop for about 2 months. 10 supports alot of my programs that I transferred from 7, that 8 wouldn't support. It has alot of advanced technology, but it's user friendly, which is a great perspective for future Windows operating systems.

These responses are interesting because the feedback I've gotten here is pretty much all "It's fine, whatever" and everything I've gotten on Weasyl is all "OMG NO JUST HAVE 7 WHY???" lol
