Well done yet simple to follow tutorials. Though is one line in "Animal Heads" -> "Practicing with Photos" that could confuse or mislead. (Also you typoed Practicing :p).

In the #2 part (third paragraph), "While tracing these parts, don't just mindlessly draw them but inspect them and make connections between similar shapes that different species have."

Wouldn't it be better to say eye tracing or referencing instead tracing. Seeing tracing tends to make one think to just literally trace. However this can be seen in a opinionated way.

I mean tracing since if you eyeball or reference as an inexperienced person you'll moslikely get it wrong, the key is to trace and inspect your traced lines - key is to find shapes in the heads (not trace them fur to fur).

I see, so you are writing it that way. Guess everyone sees it differently though (more so if were taught differently). I can however see what you mean now, and that is reasonable. Get a feel of what you are drawing by tracing it simple.
Other than that, those are well done tutorials.

People tend to look at the word tracing as a negative thing where it's only negative if you trace the wrong thing (and publish it) - it can actually be very useful for learning new things x3

The art teacher I had during AP Art Classes in High School (long graduated 7 years ago), was extremely hostile to tracing or even the word. Why I questioned that there, for is sorta common to be taught that way. Did make major edit to my previous reply as I disliked the wordy nature it had.

Well some people have their issues. When I was in artesan school the design teacher completely and utterly hated manga style, and also all students who already knew how to draw (must've been out of envy or something).

The unfortunate thing really. At least you see where I come from on that subject though. Maybe a disclaimer that tracing isn't bad and how to do tracing right would be useful.

Yeah never mind that. I had forgotten about that license explanation part there. I can read something one minute, forget about it in the next. I can say one thing though, the animal heads tutorial no doubt will be where I begin again.

I do that too (forget what I just read, or even wrote!) that's why I'm sometimes paranoid about writing tutorials. I read them through a million times before I publish ^^;

I can understand the paranoid part... I often spend 10 or more minutes writing small comments trying to determine if they make sense or not and make sure no grammar or wordy issues I can spot.

However, I'll probably hush up on this comment chain and give thanks for that animal heads tutorial. Of tutorials and ebooks I have (dozens on dozens), none really explain or go this route of learning how to draw something. I can shade, ink and design (mental visualization), but sketching never was something I could learn. Maybe this will be a different experience.

A lot of tutorials I've come across start right from just drawing circles, but whats the point in drawing them if you don't get what they're there for.

Pretty much hit the nail there and summed all of these I have up.
