I know how you feel.
I just dumped a boat load of advertising and 30 days of my life dedicated to a Kickstarter that had a whole 9 Backers and was no where near the funding I needed. :|

So there goes money I don't have and never going to get the sleepless nights back either. :|

It happens sometimes, and it sucks when it does.
Sometimes it's the content. Other times people haven't quite seen it yet.
Being an artist isn't easy, you have to do things that you like to do. Otherwise you fall into a block.
Can't always draw what people like.
Yet sometimes people have to keep moving on because it's their job to do art.
So don't let a single pic keep you down, you've done plenty of lovely art before!

because your success is more in the long term sleeper kind of sense.

what I mean by that is that your work is going to gradually pick up speed, but very slowly when it starts.

give it a year or so and see.

you have on rather long and interesting series going, any one starting off now has a lot to catch up on. so its not really surprising that newer works haven't yet received as much attention.

It's perfectly normal to feel put out when the viewers slow down for a time, but chasing after other people's confirmation makes it even worse.
The worst than can happen is you stop drawing what you like for yourself.

Eh, might just be that there's not that many people who're into Sonic.

I've enjoyed a lot of your work and continue to do so, sonic's not my favorite but I still thought the pic was really well done. Your style of art is one of the more unique ones i've come across making me very glad I did. Was so happy when I got in your ych ^^. Sometimes people don't respond well or at all. Doesn't under value the effort you put in.

Since this is a furry site, rather than a vore site, it might be a matter of location rather than interest. I know that I get a lot more traffic over at Eka's portal (A vore site) than I do here, but I only have the 1 furry story I wrote to compare by.

You're looking at it the wrong way. Do the art cause YOU enjoy it. Not for thr notoriety you'll get or the pats on the back. You drew sonic cause you like him, that should be good enough, and hey 4 others liked it too.

For what it's worth, I've enjoyed quite a number of your works, particularly some of your writings, but, as a user, I am absolutely horrible at remembering to use the Favorites link. I just never think to do it. If I do, it's once in a blue moon. If I were you, I'd go by number of views, because there are probably a large chunk of absent minded people like myself, who really appreciate your work, but browse fairly passively.

Do it for you, not them. .

Did you only do it for the favorites before? Is that why you started drawing and writing?

It looks like your average submission still gets about 40 favorites. That's 40 real human beings that find genuine interest in the work. There are some low counts, such as with the recent sonic stuff, but you still have submissions that break 100. Someone that sounds wise would say "make art for yourself", but realistically, the ego boost of numerically verifiable interest is a genuine driving force. If you're bothered that much by a lack of favorites, maybe you should take a break for a bit, and reassess the ways you get enjoyment out of drawing and writing.
