St. Patty Memories (Share yours!)

Since I am not much of a drinker, I probably don't have as many crazy memories of this day as some people, but I thought it would be fun to share some of the nostalgia it has for me. It is pretty minimal, though. Heck, I still haven't drank a green beer! (I am sure they don't taste much different from a regular Guinness, but still!)
One memory that really stands out for me, was in grade school. They tried to make it interesting, but let's face it, for a kid St. Patrick's Day will never hold up to Valentine's, Christmas, Halloween...because there is always a severe lack of candy! We went out for recess and when we came back, there was gold glitter on the floor and they told us a Leprechaun had visited us and gave us some chocolate coins. I remember thinking, "What a dope! You dump glitter on the floor, give me like, FIVE coins, and expect me to get excited! The Easter Bunny is WAY cooler than you will EVER be!" In hind sight, I am sure Mrs. Jones was thrilled at the thought of all the glitter traveling everywhere in the classroom. Vacuuming glitter up can be the worst.
The only other real memory I have (and I know robo-shark can relate with this). Is that where I went to college, was in a place where the day was kinda a big deal. In the sense that there were people flocking into the downtown area to get completely sloshed. So unless you wanted to be constantly avoiding vomit puddles, you stayed INSIDE. Which I did. Every year. Gooooood times!
Not really much more than that, I actually kinda wanted to hear other people's memories! I bet you guys have some really great stories!

To be honest I don't do much for St. Patrick's day. Maybe I should do something more interesting.

Like go vomit puddle hopping? Meh, don't worry about it! It really is more of a frat boy's holiday. I was just wondering if anyone has childhood memories of this day.

That's what I mean, there aren't really any memories to say because I don't do much about it.

Aww man! That is really cool! D: We never got anything that epic!
Whoa this is slightly late, but one time I sort of accidentley (I came up for a reptile expo the day before and stayed the night, completely forgetting that it was stPatrick's) ended up in a hostel in Chicago on St. Patty's, which was p sick of you ask me, if also crazy. They have a BIG parade and dye the river green somehow?? I'm pretty sure they're was a giant rubber duck involved?? The memories are slightly fuzzy but it was some A+ stuff.

Better late than never! Yeah, I used to live in Savannah and they did the same thing. It always worried me though on what effect it had on the local environment...
