There's a very large con going on this weekend, Typically a week before, the week of, and a week after a large con things are very quiet onsite.

FA is definitely more quiet than it used to be, just in general. Some friends and I noticed this towards the end of 2015.

I've just noticed it in general since I've been on here, and often I attribute it to how almost all of my stuff is business-related. I don't mean for everything to only be commissions and adoptables, but when I try to make a casual journal or share personal art (on the rare occasions I'm actually able to make personal art for FA) I feel like no one's really watching me for that stuff... :c

I would also agree that it's a con thing. Though I'm curious as what you mean by it being quiet?

Quiet like, empty. Like it's 100% business and there's no real connection with anyone who watches me. I feel a little down when my personal art or casual journals are largely overlooked. I don't mean for it to be that way, but it seems to have just happened this way.

In my experience, most of my interactions with others on this site often does involve purchasing art from an artist -and same said artist usually wants no further interaction with me than that. Which is understandable of course, there are a dozen reasons why that is, and they're all good ones. But more to the point, that's often how people interact on here, so even if you're looking for friends as an artist, many people may assume you mean to be the same way: nonpersonal. I'm always game for being friends with people, but being introverted on top of being a customer doesn't help.

For groups... FA doesn't have anything like DA. In that nothing is supported to do a group. There are accounts that are supposed to be groups, but as it requires a lot more work (I think). Would just need to search for some how. Or find someone you know who is in a group an. There are the accounts that are of support as well don't know any of them off the top of my head (countries, kinks, rp, etc). May have to go through your watch list and see if anyone is in a thing and go to that account and see where that goes.

I don't understand how people work, so that's all I can really say. Just gotta post and draw what you want, and there will be a few that comment and others that won't.

Hope you find more people to talk to, just gotta go out and look for them yourself. Try and see. (Or just start another account with no relation to this one and see what people show up there. Get interesting people no matter the number of watchers, but some don't want to look at "popular" people)

I get this when I haven't uploaded or opened for icons in a while, it gets eerie. But then I go browse 'icons' and see just how busy people are in other corners of FA XD

Yeah, the shyness bit is something I had to train myself out of. I think most of my problem on this site is that I simply don't know where to fit in to the community. With DA it became immensely easier once I started joining rp groups, idk if FA has anything like a group system or rp stuff or what. D:

I think sometimes everyone can feel that, but whatever who or how, this is not really great.

I think like someone said, it can happen when you may not upload stuff for a while and it definitely can feel quieter when you don't really try to mingle much with others, either your audience or other artists. I notice there's a con going on like it's also been mentioned, so I guess that's related as well.

I think a big problem for me with this site is I just don't know where I should go to mingle with people, outside of comments or journals. ^^'

I totally understand that since this site isn't like DA where there's actual groups to flourish with interaction and no chats either, so tbh I think the comments & journals is all this site has as far as interacting with various people often enough. Seems like nowadays the best chance to mingle outside of them is following who you wanna interact with on twitter and chatting with them over time that way.

I know what you mean! Honestly it's kinda always been 'eh' for me on FA, I don't get many comments on my posts and journals, but I always get commissioners! I also try to comment on others' posts as much as I can, offering feedback or just to say they're awesome! Even if they don't reply I'm sure they still appreciate it. =)
I get a lot more feedback/communication on other sites/social media, but it's different for everyone. I still like to use FA even if it's quiet sometimes. Mainly for the commissions and the other artists I follow who still update on here.
I've made friends with some of my customers I honestly don't mind keeping in touch with my clients! I haven't had a single bad customer yet, everyone's been a delight to work with. ^_^

There was also a journal someone posted about trying to bring the art community on here closer together (I can't recall who it was anymore but it was a good read! ;A;)
We should have a group or something where artists post their work to get feedback and tips to help them develop more, and have a chat room or something (if there isn't already a group like that). I always encourage feedback on my posts but I think people don't want to hurt my feelings or they think I'll rage at them for it. XD
