SEGA Promises The Anniversary Game To Have Quality

Mii: Juice Now usually when someone mentions that SEGA are promising to care for the quality of their products, everyone goes "haven't we heard this one before" so why should we believe them this time? Well, it's been over 3 years since the last Sonic game made by Sonic Team was released (less we count Sonic Runners, I don't) and we still don't have any NEWS about the new game let alone show any footage of it just yet, and then we get this:
#25 years of Sonic #and another busy day here at the sega offices #today we'd like to take a moment to say thank you to all of you who have been patient this year #the great irony of course is that in 2015 the mantra was: Take your time SEGA! Make a good game! #but now that we actually are taking our time and focusing on quality #we notice a small group of vocal people shouting: GIVE US NEWS! GIVE IT NOW! #funny how impatient people can become - isn't it? #So to all those demanding news - you're just gonna have to wait. Get used to that! #And to all those demanding good games - we hope to make you excited in due time #In other news... #we have a developer interview coming up soon for Big's Big Fishing Adventure 3 #so stay tuned! #HAPPY TUESDAY PEEPS

So... I guess this confirms there's a game in the works, it's only a matter of time now until we see something, I won't lie I was beginning to have my doubts and I'm sure I'm not the only one...
Recently I been feeling more and more people losing interest in Sonic, many of my friends now moved on and stopped caring to the point I even have friends now who flat out get pissed or bored if I mention Sonic to them, many associate Sonic with failure nowadays to the point it's considered an insult to even use a Sonic icon or something *sigh* I hope their promises about changing Sonic's reputation are more than words, at this point I want them to either put effort or kill the franchise altogether.

For me I honestly will never grow up from him, even if there are faults here and there, I still enjoy what he comes out with. If it wasn't for sonic, I don;t think I would have ever taken an interest in the theme of anthros (or maybe I would start late)
ME : This hurts me. :< I still have faith in Sonic.
I remember in the early 2000s Sonic was the shit, growing up I was worried that I'm a weirdo for liking Sonic, when I started using the internet I noticed how popular this guy is and I started having more confidence about my liking, now I feel like it's the 90s again where I fear to tell anyone that I like Sonic because they're going to mock me and laugh at me saying that it's for kids and that I should feel ashamed of myself for liking it :'(
And also the cartoons (not the anime) (yes, even Underground, to a degree) and Sonic Boom somewhat (It's a bit like if AoStH was sane)
The comics... well, I gave up when sonic ended up in space in like issue 125 or something like that (or was it 150?).
But when I see them mention this, I can't help but think back to Sonic's 15th birthday and especially Sonic '06, and I fear for the future.
Hope for the best; expect the likeliest; prepare for the worst.
With every new Sonic project we need to do just that.
What if SEGA made a 16-bit Sonic game similar to Shovel Knight?
