Hotel Booking Adventure

Somehow I ended up coordinating our group's preparation for Anthrocon, including budgeting, hotel, and transportation. I don't mind; I really like planning events and things like that. BUT, my cat almost made things very difficult.
Our cat can be a jerk sometimes. He's fluffy and adorable and lovable, but a jerk. He has a habit of climbing on the desk in our bedroom and trying to drink out of our cups. On this particular day (yesterday), I was sitting on the bed trying to get a room booked in a specific hotel (its our regular and the only one with a room big enough to fit all of us - 7!). I was almost done; I had already inputted our names and the payment information when... *SPLASH* My nearly full cup of apple juice was spilled all over the floor and our little heater and phone chargers. The cat goes running away, I go running to clean it up, and by the time I'm done, the webpage had timed out.
Well, it sucked but I figured that I could just start over again. So I tried again and NOPE. Apparently it was the last one and was no longer available. Mildly panicking, I message the group that there might be a big issue and frantically find the phone number for the hotel, hoping that maybe it was being held since I had gotten so far (literally seconds from pressing submit) and they could help.
So I call the lady and she was nice, but there was nothing she could do if I hadn't submitted it. She was offering other days/times, other hotels in the area, but nothing would work for us. Then, right before we were going to give up, she refreshes her page, and there it was! The exact room type that I had tried to get for the exact days! I jumped onto the website (so I could get the convention rate) and booked it immediately.
And thats the story of my adventure trying to get a hotel room for AC this year.
