Description From Event Post:
This event is for anyone interested in hanging out at Geeks Along the River in Monroe, LA on Saturday, May 7, 2016 at the Downtown River Market. Input of how we can organize this so it can go smoothly is welcome. I would like to plan this as an "All Day" event as I know driving 2+ hours for something and only hanging out for only an hour can feel like a waste of time and money.
The Pitch: The times listed are the same times listed for Geeks Along the River and we can start meeting up around noon or so, and we can also grab a bite to eat at River and Rail Cantina, a restaurant that is in walking distance of the River Market. and MAYBE, if anyone wants to, after we make our rounds and purchases to all the wonderful booths and such, we can head over up to Bayou Bowl (100 Horseshoe Lake Road, Monroe, LA 71203) to bowl, and if we can the permission, we can possibly do some Fursuit Bowling, the owner there is usually pretty good at letting us do so, as long we don't harass and purposely scare the other patrons that are already there.
Weather permitting, those who want, can suit at Geeks Along the River, but if its going to be too hot, I know no one wants to suit in hot weather. If it rains, the event may be cancelled, as the River Market is an outside market. The Month of May can be finicky and unpredictable, so more detail on that as it gets closer.
Hope to make this a wonderful, pleasurable experience for everyone!

UPDATE #1: I am actually really surprised and excited that this has gotten much attention. I wasn't expecting this much reception.
This is still a few weeks away, I am still keeping an eye on the Main Event (Geeks Along the River) for any changes as the weather likes to be bipolar this time of year.
As of today, Geeks Along the River is still up for Saturday, May 7 @ 10am - 6pm.
As for the NELA Fur Meet, I was thinking that we can meet up at or around 1pm and have lunch at River and Rail Cantina (menu/prices are shown below, website if you want to see more of the place http://riverandrailmonroe.com) afterwards we can trot around Geeks and do our thing and buy our goodies and whatnot. Then if you all wish to, we can go bowling at Bayou Bowl (100 Horseshoe Lake Road, Monroe, LA; they have some pretty decent group rates if the group is a certain number, I will need to go there and see what they are, their prices may have changed) OR Mini Golf at Mane Street Mini Golf and Games (205 Mane Street, West Monroe, LA; which their Facebook says they will be hopefully open back up after the end of April after repairs are done, they may had gotten flooded, so it maybe a no go on that if they are not finished by then)
For all these places, I need a good estimate of who's coming so when I call these places to set up the reservations and such, so they can prepare for the crowd. Just dont want to show up with 20 people and be like "Hi, I need a table for 100 people." Uhhhhh..lol if anyone one has worked in restaurant business...that is annoying and rude.
Most of this stuff is going to be up to all of you. This is all of our meet for us furs, not mine, spite me being a 'host'. Please share your input. Is there a better time for anyone than 1pm? What about before or after? Lets make a discussion.
NELA Fur Meet Schedule
Geeks Along the River Starts at 10am, you are not required to be there at the start as many of us wont be there until later, but please come at your own leisure and comfort.
Meet up at River and Rail Cantina @ 1pm for lunch; Address: 201 Walnut St, Monroe, LA 71201
After lunch, you are free to do as you please at the event; Geeks Event ends at 6pm
I will be most likely leaving the event a bit early (5 - 5:30p) to head over to Bayou Bowl to get everything situated. Those who showed up late to the event can join us in a bit of bowling fun. Address: 100 Horseshoe Lake Rd, Monroe, LA 71203
After bowling our worth, we will discuss where we will go eat for the night before retiring for the night.
This is based off the feedback I've gotten from the polls. This is the first write up, and potential final draft of the times if nothing is changed/updated by Thursday, May 5.
