I think I've gone on about three and a half years of that dragon *thing* since I first made this account, I feel the change warrants a journal post. So here's some boring background story.
When I started I had no idea what to do for a username, I always like that "I'm a dragon, fuck you!" thing and I'm into asian culture so I combined that with a kung-fu / dragon-fu / other martial arts styles (it's also supposed to be an asian style dragon). Soon enough I came to hate the generic and unoriginal name DragonFU but to this day I haven't been able to think of anything better and I know how annoying it would be to try to start a new account. So I'll live with it I guess.
At the time I thought of the username I also imagined a chimera / dragon "muse", something about the size of big, long cat. As a treat, I will reveal the ORIGINAL, FULL, UNFINISHED and UNPUBLISHED picture of the rest of that avatar here. At the time I couldn't think of how exactly I wanted him to look, though I assumed I would draw him many more times in the future. Well, I drew him once more in an attempt to update his design, and it was left unfinished and unpublished since I still couldn't make it good or how I want. I imagined only Falvie could do the design perfect but never talked to her.
I remained unattached to both my name and avatar, I had way too much pressure on myself to think of something better but doing my own stuff is the hardest of all. I had tried to recreate the dragon model recently but every time I started the avatar format it all fell apart. I got some thumbnails here you can see. The very original inspiration was Haku (dragon from Spirited Away) and you can probably see the resemblance. I had wanted it to be blinking with an ear twitchy and it would have been great but I simply couldn't make it.
I can't say there's anything special or meaningful about the new avatar I did. It's not so much a new character as it would be some fun interpretation of myself with things I like (goat/goth style dress). Some websites show avatars smaller than 100x100 and it loses all readability, seriously working with my avatar has been one of the most frustrating things. I can't imagine it'd be any less than another few years until I feel the need to update but if all goes well I'd be able to get someone else to make it for me! I think yuurikin does absolutely perfect avatars, it will be fun to see what the future holds. ^.~

As for creating an avatar, while I'm not an artist myself, I can relate (to a degree) to the trials of settling on a design. My main character, for a very long time, didn't have any specific details for his dragon form. I honestly had no idea what I wanted and when I tried to think or what I might want, things usually didn't progress very far. Fortunately, though, I was able to recruit Rhyu (aka Rajewel) who helped me with the process of designing his dragon form. To that end, I can definitely say it can only help having other creative minds to bounce ideas around with.
That is very helpful info, I can see how getting help would make it all much easier. I neglected to mention when I started that I had intention of creating "dragon forms" of people characters, I thought it could be my thing, but wow dragons are so much work! And of course not being able to think of anything myself it fizzled out. X3
Definitely agree though with the small size being annoying
And tbh, my character was originally just a Dragon anthro named Jason, but then I found a cyber Dragon skin on Second Life and the thought of being cyber dragon was perfect for me, so I took the skin I still use on SL, and changed it all to what I have today. :P
So trust me, you're not alone in the unoriginal thing. We all love your work and we loves yas to death, too. X3
You are missed <3
And I meant to say your new avatar is quite lovely. > u <

'Dragon Luck' or 'Dragon Fortune"
lol
Hahahaha
For whatever reason I've gained a crazy amount of entertainment by messing with my name on steam. Grey Wusker, Sir Wuskerfluff, Wuskanese Wusk Fluff, Sir Wuskerfield but the thought of getting a new name just... feels wrong after so long.
I actually have a Dragonic wusky in secondlife which a friend named the breed as a Wagon its the absurdly fluffy wusky with edited in scales along the muzzle horns longer more pronounced claws and a digigrade stance. I've never considered it my fursona despite the fact I thick it looks nicer. (I'm also worried about being too unique)
