24 Hour Gaming stream for Macmillan Cancer Research!
"I love a woman who can kick my ass." Yo guys! Just letting you lot know I've signed up to do a 24 hour gaming stream for Macmillan Cancer Research! This charity is lose to my heart as they've helped not only some of my family members through their cancer but also one of my best friends in recent years. Now, I dont have a concrete date for when I'll be doing the stream, but it'll be happening soon! And it'd be great if you guys could come watch, chill and give some money to a great charity! I also plan on doing Patreon style "rewards" if I reach certain amounts of money donated to Macmillan. I haven't decided what yet, but some of it may be art related. Most of it will most likely be happening in the stream itself. So maybe it'll be something like taking an item of clothes off with every hundred reached. Or singing a song or something like that! WHO KNOWS!? Now, I know some of you may look at this and think "People in the past have said this sort of thing then kept the money for themselves! HOW DO WE KNOW YOUR NOT PLANNING ON THAT, KIN?!" Well, that's simple! Absolutely NONE of the money will be touching any account I have access to! All donations will be through www.JustGiving.com and absolutely every single penny will go straight to the awesome folks over at Macmillan! Here, I'll copy/paste the email I got from them for you lot.
So yeah! There it is :3 I'm not going to choose just one game to play because that'd be pretty boring...I'll most likely end up playing most of my games during the stream. XD SO! If you guys are interested in helping an awesome charity just look out for a future journal with the date and time that I'll be doing the stream! :D
Hi Edward,
Thank you for registering to be part of Game Changers for Macmillan 2016!
Last year we raised over £100k for people affected by cancer and this year we want to raise even more.
What do you need to do now?
First of all you need to pick a day for your Game Changing marathon – you can do it any time that suits your schedule! Get together with some friends or go lone wolf, it’s up to you how you game. And if you would like to you can stream your marathon on Twitch.
Once you’ve got a date, then it’s time to set up your JustGiving page.
You’re going to heroic lengths to help change the lives of people with cancer – so you should let as many people know as possible. Because that will mean you’ll raise as much as you can. Here are some top tips to help power up your event:
Ask your friends or family to sponsor you at £1 per hour. It’s not much, but will add up to a lot.
Spread the word: post about your gaming day on social media, and link your fundraising page from your Twitch channel. Let the world know they can tune in and watch you in action.
Set milestones and let people know what will happen when you get to a certain amount (for example, you could do a dance if you get to £500) – that inspires people to donate even more (even if it is to see you embarrassing yourself!)
If you missed out on our event last year you can still catch up on the highlights on our Twitch channel for some inspiration. (And watch this space for news on our big event this year!)
And don’t forget why you’re doing this. By taking on the challenge for Macmillan Cancer Support, you are changing the lives of people with cancer, one hour at a time.
Good luck!
The Game Changers team
PS If you have any questions or need any tips, don’t hesitate to get in touch with us at fundraising[at]macmillan.org.uk and we’ll get back to you as soon as we can.
Don't forget to stay safe!So yeah! There it is :3 I'm not going to choose just one game to play because that'd be pretty boring...I'll most likely end up playing most of my games during the stream.
