For the personality, i mostly thought about the anime giant robots pilots but i tryed to also make my character more realistic and not just a stereotype.
For the species, i love wolves, when i see them and hear theyr howls i always feel good and happy, i would like to be one too.

Pretty much that's it, there are a lot more details but it would be very long to explain since the start till where i am now @.@

Mazinger, GaoGaiGar, Gundam, a lot of anime mecha series to the point of basing him off characters from the "Super Robot Taisen" crossover games series.

Indeed when i made the latest redesign and description of Ota, some friends of mine sayd that my character reminded them a lot about "Touma Kanou" or "Ryuusei Date", who are both pilots from the Super Robot Taisen games ^.^

My fursona is actually a lot more complex than it appears, as it's been a questionnable choice for a long time. It used to be first a wolf, then a husky, then an arcanine, then an arcanine-lucario hybrid for a short while, then unexpectedly, a fennec fox. The fennec stuck because it fits me with a smaller frame, extremely good hearing, and extremely volatile moodlets :).

Distorter kinda got made into my 'sona as i began to actually develop him. He started solely as a joke character just to make fun of various hero tropes.

my friend helped me with his species choosing back in mid 2009 though. :) began with a silly conversation of her trying to teach me what mustelidae are as a whole. XD (minks, otters, martens, weasels were all misses. once she said ferret, i suddenly knew what all of them were. XD)


overtime Distorter got to be much more like myself in ways; standoffish, observing, "big brother" figure to other characters of mine, etc. :) kinda slowly got the fits of "him as a character, and him as myself" divisions though naturally. :)

I always had something for the majestic tigers, so aschose my furson a tiger was a given. That he became a white one was just to stand out a bit more.

His personality is more or less still a work in progress as he is a reflection of me (and what I wish to be) so as I learn more about me he gets altered a bit as well.

I am a total RPG freak which lead to the choice of name in a way. I loved Breath of Fire 3 and especially Rei the Weretiger and as I didn't want to be too copycat there I chose another character from a different RPG series
so he is now named Rei Loire, Laguna Loire from FF8. Smehow not that original but since then that's me.

I see. Interesting, the personality grow as you understand more about yourself. May I know what influence his wardrobe design? I just don't think its JRPG enough

It is designed as a close-combat fighters garb with the gloves and tight muscle shirt while the shorts are adorned with a loincloth, just something I did find interesting. He was designed as the military guy

Even though Soba is usually dressed in traditional Japanese clothing, he's actually a time traveler. The concept for him originated from my interests in Japanese history and mathematics. I needed a character quickly when a friend offered to show me around SPR MUCK, and there was an Usagi Yojimbo comic book on my desk, so I drew a bit of quick inspiration from that and off we went.

I've always liked bears, and I'm a fairly tall person, so I decided to use a species that was large.

In hindsight, perhaps a dragon or gryphon would have suited me better as a character, but Soba is like a friend and was not meant as a fursona; he was just a character that I came up with and was not meant to be "me." I still don't think of him as a fursona, but everyone calls me Soba, so I just run with it. :)

Honestly, I never felt a need to have a character that completely represented who I am. I would not object to it, but I don't think I would gain much. I do have other characters that are closer to me in some ways, but still not fursonas.

SPR (Sociopolitical Ramifications) is a MUCK, which is an online game/social environment with no graphics; it's all text descriptions. For example, "You are standing in a large field with green grass stretching as far as you can see. A cluster of trees stands off to the side, their bright orange and red leaves rustling in the cool autumn breeze."

MUCKs are not very popular now, but before everyone had such powerful computer graphics cards and very fast Internet connections, it was the only way anyone could interact easily online. Some of them are set up as game environments where you kill monsters and find treasure, but others (like SPR) are purely social and people just use them to create a world (anyone can create areas, objects, and so on) and chat with others.

It's been almost 20 years since I used MUCKs regularly, but I met a lot of nice people and have fond memories. :)

I actually saw a fantasy RPG and superhero themed one on 2012. But not really interested me because I don't read. Not because I hate reading, it just I never really buy a novel and read it. I'm more interested with knowledge on nature stuff :T But Encyclopedia like that are pricey.

I actually feel weird making character that fully representing myself. I prefer make character that part of myself can self-insert to. But, I don't think fursona work that way XP

For starters I like small cute things so I immediately knew I wanted my character short and cute. I like cats so that was an easy way to line that up. In terms of the clown/jester thing though I just wanted to step out of the box and find some avenue to make him cute by design with also a creative backstory so I figured a traveling entertainer jester would be cool and adorable. So after getting my first commission I was just super pleased with how he looked that it stuck!

What about the personality? Does it fits yours? Or is he someone you wanted to be?

More someone I want to be XD I'm not exactly a truly jubilous outgoing and super entertaining/funny guy. He's a lot more of a showman then I'll ever be but I try now and then heh. He also knows he's cute and is not afraid to milk it up and use that to his advantage whereas I don't have that luxury.

Just wondering how someone decide to create a fursona.

I enjoy these questions, always interesting.
My sona started out as a reptile, always loved lizardmen.
Though he certainly has some of my personality and deep desires but after talking too a friend another sona was born, I was asked questions and soon realised I suited a canine more. So went over some designs and thoughts and I love doberman so created from there.
I always uses to act like a dog when I was a kid and I share traits with bogs personality wise I think.

Yeah sometimes your go with what comes first then when you discover yourself more then you tend too change your sons too reflect it ^^

at the 1st i would just be a simple brown coyote who do random stuff here and there, nothing special and detailed of him tho..
but lately i decide to make him more squeaky with ability to turn into latex coyote, after events, experiments here and there, etc etc.. i love how it turns out too.. heheh..
