Got Called Away
Just a heads-up, artwork IS being worked on! I got called away for the weekend, the wife decided she wanted to go to Wheeling, West Virginia late Friday morning. Now if you're like me, and I know I am, your first thought is, "wait, she wanted to go to Wheeling on purpose?" Well, believe it or don't, in what's left of a functioning Wheeling is an ECHL hockey team, the Wheeling Nailers, and that night was Game 1 of Round 2 of the Kelly Cup finals. The Nailers have a deal with a local historic hotel, McClure House, and a local eatery, Generations, that you can get for a package price; around $155 gets you a nice-sized room -- double, $10 more a single king, try and figure that one out -- a $20 dinner voucher, and 2 tickets to the game, and the seats always seem to be good ones. She was paying, so we went.
Nailers won!
Next day she asked what I thought about staying another night. Frankly I had things to do for my new side job with a company called MTI, something part time to make sure money comes in while I'm starting the real estate career. Not wanting to disappoint her I agreed. So we spent Saturday going across the bridge to Wheeling Island where I could lose a few dollars on the slot machines, we watched 15 greyhound races -- the dogs, not the passenger buses, though that would've been cool, watching the dogs trying to outrun the buses and those huge wheels -- then an hour's drive to Mountaineer in Chester, WV, via Ohio, to watch the horses run, where on one race and on one slot machine I sort of made up my losses.
A good time was had by all methinks. 'cept the drive back in the pitch dark during a heavy rain, that was sort of a bitch. But I'm back and at it!
