Rant: Things I hate "Moral Loopholeing"
Ok rant warning, ganna be basically complaining. One of the myrrard of things that pisses me off, besides the fact that as you age there is always more that just pisses you off, I'm going to call "Moral Loopholeing" a form of justification for bad behavior people are taught early in life. Time and again people will do things that on their face are morally wrong, or borderline sociopathic and then break out some excuse to absolve them or responsibility or justify it. it can be boiled down to simple statements or actions, a few of which I will rage at just for catharsis.
The REAL Golden Rule - The Golden rule is "Do Unto others as you would have done unto you" a good basically rule that means not to do things to other people you wouldn't want done to you. This sadly isn't what a LOT of people actually do what they do is better said as "Screw over others first because they are planning to screw over you", casting the whole world as your enemy that needs to suffer preemptive vengeance.
The Difference Between Right and Wrong is Paying the Price - A terrible believe that boils down to the idea that if no one can prove you did something wrong, it doesn't count as happening. I hope it's easy to see WHY this is horrible as it can justify ANY action.
Crimes against bad people don't count - A terrible justification for behavior when your own horribleness is excused so long as the victim is BAD in your personal judgement. Terrible because what makes You the expert?
Stealing from the Rich is Ok, they can afford it - Terrible because who says what your stealing is something they can get back? What if it has important sentimental attachment? IF you stole money, who says it wasn't meant for someone else who needed it? You think your robin hood for stealing from a corporate bank that rips off it's customers because you stuck it to their victimizer? How do you think they are going to cover their loss? yes by ripping off customers MORE, you stole from the people you meant to help!
Stealing from Outsiders is Ok - Horrible because it devalues your fellow humans, isolationist communities do this a LOT and don't care if they financially DESTROY someone else if it's an outsider. Spreads the idea of division and tribalism both of which I see as terrible.
Equal Good Deeds Balance out Bad Ones. Also know as "The Score Keeper" a particular asshole that often comes in the religious variety. This particular jerk is sanctimonious as they will look down apron others for being amoral, yet commit multiple acts of amorality all the time. But they "balance" out the bad acts with good ones. No your not a good person unless your ALWAYS trying to be a good person, not because you make up for when your PURPOSELY a bad one. You volunteer as a soup kitchen and give to charity.. that's great, your also a peeping tom, a tax cheat and you never tip? Sorry your an ASSHOLE.
I'm sure there are more.. buts that all ticking me off today. I'm sure as time drags me along toward my inevitable death the world will only feel more frustrating. yes I'm my brithday soon and I am feeling OLD.
