May reopen writing commissions; contemplating raised prices
9 years ago
Scribbling nonsense all across the board like jaguars leaping from trees of leather bodices encasing aged withered corpses whose eyes dazzle with the light of one million and three silver satellites flying over Los Angeles hiding illegal immigrants from Irish potato farms built atop the golden ruins of El Dorado filled with demonic Ewoks hurling tremendous tankards of tons of Tylenol at the panda bear ninjas that hide around every corner of the magic square building trying desperately to pull up its skirt and set roots on another cubic square inch of the board upon which I am scribbling nonsense.
So for a variety of reasons I really ought to be reopening commissions soon, I need to start having a more regular income of sorts coming in so that I can say I'm a properly functioning member of society instead of just a shlub living with his parents playing videogames all day. However something that I have pondered for some time is the prices that I charge for commissions, because the fact of the matter is that, in terms of time spent and the amount of work I get finished in that time on average, I am far under minimum wage. Ideally I ought to be charging $8 per hour, I've only felt hesitant about that before now because I'm doubtful if the amount of work I can get finished in that time is worthwhile, and because this is more of a side thing than anything really official, however at this point due to several developments that have transpired IRL I don't feel like I can let that slide anymore, I absolutely need to have something that can more properly be considered a job.
So I want to ask people for their thoughts on this, to make sure that I'll still have an audience of clients willing to be engaged. This would essentially mean going up to $8 per 500 words - or 1.3 pennies per word.
I would like to make a reminder again though that I am still plenty open for coloring commissions, details of which can be seen here.
