Don't really want to leave FA, but that was quite the scare... >~<"
Really hope FA fixes things #makeFAgreatagain~

I'll be sure to add you tho when I make mine~ ^w^
1. There was a data breach and the owners have violated CA civil code by not contacting its userbase individually to notify them.
2. Hackers made off with the passwords for each user. These passwords were not encrypted-- the hackers have the actual passwords. Many people have already experienced login attempts on unrelated websites, and if you used the same password (even in the PAST on FA) as many other sites, change them now.
3. AFTER ALL OF THIS, password reset forms do NOT use HTTPS, the secure-protocol version of HTTP, to transmit the new passwords. It means your new password may already be in the hands of hackers. Who knows?
4. AFTER ALL OF THIS, the password reset confirmation code you got in your email DOES NOT EXPIRE AFTER YOU RESET YOUR PASSWORD. I hope for your sake nobody can see your emails.
5. Re the previous two, the security on this site is absolutely amateur. It may not matter if the site is just social or fun for you, but for a lot of people it's a platform to make a living-- e.g. PJ, and the lack of care we've seen put forward as a SOLUTION leaves us upset.
6. The entire source code for this website has been stolen. This is similar to a home-invader stealing your safe so they can unlock it in the luxury of their own home. And because the site's source code is not being made public to anyone ELSE (called "open-sourcing") like other furry sites are doing, it means we have to trust the powers-that-be at FA to fix all of the holes in their code before hackers find them. Based on 3, 4, and 5, I'm not feeling too safe.
I moved off of here awhile ago but this has really validated my decision to leave and I encourage others to do the same whenever I can. For many, many reasons it would be great for you to try FN-- not only because it's aiming to be a safer platform, but because it is ACTIVELY being shaped right now by user input. Want to be a part of how it turns out? That's an option to you! Already a few ideas I've had have gotten great feedback from developers.
Anyway, that's my soapbox/security PSA.
I will definitely be signing up for FN tho, not sure how the transitioning will fully occur, but it's exciting~! I saw your post about their features too and it sounds awesome~! Can't wait to be apart of their community~ :D
