I'm much the same. I'm thinking I'll start being more active on other accounts, but this is where I want to stay. Maybe it's just the familiarity and my dislike of change, but I like it here too.

Familiarity is part of it, certainly. But I've got accounts on a few other sites (not the icky cub porn one!!), but the sense of "community" - for lack of a better term - doesn't seem to exist in the way it does here. Granted, it could be due to my limited exposure on those sites, but my limited exposure may also be due to the lack of "community" - for lack of a better term, heh. I'm honestly curious if the recent flux of people to these sites will increase what I feel is missing from them. Perhaps I'll investigate at some future point. :3

I think that's the biggest issue with the community: whenever there's a big stink about something and people start leaving, the focus veers away from the fact that there's huge issues with the site to drama about the fact that people are leaving. Feels like nothing here will change because people don't stay focused on an issue long enough.

I agree that the leaving part becomes the focal point after whatever disaster, but the cause itself is still usually bantered about as the reason for their leaving. But yeah, it can appear that staying focused on the ... ooh wait, I see something shiny!

Heh, these exoduses happen after every outage. But you're right; the majority do return when the other sites don't provide the audience for them.
