Well, it's also that e621 doesn't require an account to view the pictures. So people who are into RP just go to e621, search a species they'd like to play and then download the images they like to upload on their RP profile. Personally I think it's not so much e621 that's the problem for many people but the consequences in how people react to its existence.

That still makes it the fault of the people who downloaded the art to use as their RP pictures, not e621's fault. You don't technically need an account for other sites that allow you to view adult art, like FurryNetwok. You just have to agree hat you are 18 years or older, which is silly considering any 12 year old can figure out the "i agree" button. Furaffinity is one of the only sites that is too lazy or ill-experienced in coding to do such a feature so it requires you to have an account because its easier.

I never said that this was e621's fault, I wholly agree that the people who do it are to blame. I merely wanted to point out that I think that it's the people who do that that subsequently damage e621's reputation because that's the main source for them.

yea...but that whole RP thing is moot, cause I actually met folks on SoFurry who rp have FA accounts and thats where they got the art from...

Yeah, I've met people with similar circumstances. I still think that sites like e621 and gelbooru are the main source for art theft in the RP aspect though. That's just my 2 cents as to why w621 is so unpopular among artists and character owners.

its actually known its the primary thing of: "I don't control it"
on e621 folks are allowed to talk bad about things or how annoying a character is or how an artist always do the same thing, try that on FA and that artist can delete your comment and then block you. E621 is relatively an unfriendly environment but it tends to have the heavier critique for some folks such as myself.

Its why you see artist going "hey yes you can upload to e621 if you ask me" or even asking e621 staff to have em on the DNP list cause they have a control of where their art goes

the best part about e621.net, is that anyone can add or remove tags, so if there is one kink you don't like, blacklist it, and it won't show up. See a pic in your blacklist? go it and add your blacklist tag, and you won't see it!
As well, people can add source links, so there really isn't any stealing (there still is but not a lot from what I've seen), and anyone could add a source link as well!

the only problem with e621 is that they enforce a "tag what you see" rule as in if the art is only of a character's top half, even if the character is known to be a herm...it has to be tagged female. Many folks are trying to fight against that one ruling with the grounds of "if the submission itself where it came from state certain things, it should overwrite the ruling. I did get in an argument over an old piece by nightfaux and folks were arguing that the character is a herm, while I myself the owner of the picture showed "no thats an egg, and the character is listed as female on my gallery" in the end I agreed to ambiguous to compromise to their rules.

True, those kind of things need to be worked out, but the fact that people can help add tags for others to search for (or avoid finding!) is a great idea, I sorta wish it was available on FA, maybe a "community tags" section, an if they add a Black List, I think it would make a lot of people very very happy. the only thing we can do with e621, is hope the devs change the rules to "If the character is stated as one thing else wehre, as well as other pictures, they may be tagged multiple genders" so they APPEAR female, and would get a female tag, but the character is normally a Herm, so it would also get a herm tag

the weird thing is its now standard on many other sites and FA is still in the past about it. The thing is, THOSE sites that do have black listing ENFORCE a tagging rule and system so their black list system can work. On FA they would have to do the same, which if you do go thru my gallery you will notice A LOT of images I dont even put down tags.

thats why I said community tags, so artists could get away with not tagging (or at least minimal tags) And the artists could always "fix" tags (because trolls will be trolls and put stupid tags/false tags) But it would also get confusing and annoying...
