Crying, terrified, may be unresponsive

So I didn't want anyone to know and I wanted it to be a surprise for my watchers but..
I commissioned a fur suit of River. Back in February I had a friend recommend a maker to me. I know this friend in real life and have seen the suit. She had no issues in getting it, no communication problems, no negative review at all. The suit was wonderful, a perfect style for River, and I just finally gave into the impulse and contacted the maker.
I contacted them on February 28th. And on the 29th, after much discussion of details over very frequent e-mails, I made the deposit payment. I was in frequent contact with them up until March 4th, where contact started to get sparse. I'd hear from them maybe every week and a half, sometimes two weeks, and as time went on, three and four weeks apart...
It was like my first fursuit commission all over again. Terrifying, Unsure.. Horrible.
We discussed all details and she agreed to have the partial done and shipped to me in time for AnthroCon. The original partial consisted of the head, paws, arm sleeves, feet, and a tail. I later on added leg sleeves.
Everything was set up through an invoice. I made payments after the deposit every two weeks in sums of $100, one payment being $105. The total was $1095 at the end of all the payments (which the last payment was made today).
Through-out it all, I was promised photos and more frequent contact. I have gotten two photos this entire time, of foamwork for the head, on April 25th. Almost two months since original commission date... I have received no proof of work since.
I had not heard from her for a month when she finally got back to me on May 15th stating the paws and tail were almost done. However I have since not heard from her and received nothing more. She has been active on FA, most recently being May 25th. With my deadline swiftly approaching and it being unethical to be able to finish so much in just two weeks and have it shipped to me, I started to panic.
I have gotten in contact with other current commissioners of hers. And as I have found out, one commissioner has been waiting since last July on a full suit that was to be done this May. They have had no contact with her. Another commissioner has a similar story, a deadline that has come and went, no contact at all. And my friend, who decided to commission arm sleeves, hasn't heard from her since February.
They've all started the dispute process on Paypal to get their money back. However...
Since I paid through increments on an invoice, I am not protected by Paypal's buyer protection services.. I did not know this until calling to see why I could not dispute the invoice. I can only dispute each individual payment. I am horrified. I started crying whilst in the call with the woman. And I never knew this either. She said it's in the details of the buyer protection TOS. Yet it's no where to be seen on the invoice itself? Shouldn't that be something made very CLEAR!? Now I may be out a grand!?
She said I can go to my bank and have them cancel the payments but some of those payments took money I had in my Paypal account. Do I chock that up as a loss? She said there's still a possibility that if I dispute each and every individual payment that Paypal may help me or the seller may respond... But she wanted to make me aware of the other possible outcome...
I'm so mortified. I can't stop crying. This is the constant stress I've been dealing with for a month now. I don't even want to go to AnthroCon any more. I wouldn't have went this year if not for me thinking I'd have River with me. Now not only will I not have her, but I will be out a grand and just be miserable the whole time. Fur suit envy is a really big problem with me and even though I do have a partial I bought off Furbuy last summer, it just isn't the same.
I can't do this any more. This happened with my first fur suit commission. A partial that was to be done for AC, not done until August, yet that one was only $400.. But even when it arrived it had holes and wasn't to my measurements and just everything was horrible.. I didn't dispute it. I should've... But I was young and dumb then, I was only 17..
This has completely ruined my regard for fur suit makers... I can't believe this has happened....
I'm sorry guys, I'm gonna go quiet for a bit I think... I just can't do this... I can't stop crying...
After the dispute is handled, I'm going to post up a public AB.. I don't want to provide her username because I don't want anything working against me possibly winning the dispute...
