Many Many Horrible Curses...AKA Windows 10 "Upgrade"

For anyone who doesn't know, I have a thing about technology. I trust it about as far as I can throw it and no further.
The idea that my laptop would suddenly decide to "upgrade" itself to Windows 10, despite me turning down said "upgrade" for months, is a bit creepy. Thankfully my mate will be able to un-upgrade it without any worries but still. My laptop was built for Windows 7, though it apparently meets the minimum for Windows 10....which to me means it should never ever run Windows 10.
Seriously, having no way to stop the "upgrade" once it starts is utter and complete BS. I usually haven't had any bones to pick with Microsoft but this might be enough to change my mind.
Microsoft really needs to understand that the average user is more than mildly superstitious about their computer (where most of their life is these days) and will freak right the hell out if it suddenly starts an upgrade process they didn't initialize. Sufficed to say not the best of PR moves.
*end of rant*

OP
Watch out, it might very well do what mine did and just start the install out of no where. My laptop kept asking me if I wanted to go to Window 10 and I kept saying no.
