This is why you should always make a backup of everything that is of importance to you because once the battery goes, the laptop memory will go very soon after. I don't want to lecture you on this though, heh. I just hope you'll be able to pop back on Pawpet IRC next Monday. I also hope that you either listened to Doggy Radio on the site or downloaded the podcast, Ogg file for now, to listen to whenever you had a chance. This week's Hedgie With a Bloggy on Doggy™ was a good one, and I started a new one for next week while I was listening to this week's Doggy Radio, lol.

Anyway, I'm yammering on and on, and this is what I did with another person, heh.

That's just it... I don't have another supply to charge it with (had to steal the one from my sis' after she also chewed through the first one) - and i didn't know if the rewritable drive on it was cd/dvd compatable so i never used the dvd-r's i got last christmas to see if it was to back up those files... And the only other safety net i was using for safety archiving of my files (yes, KlaviFox; i'm looking at you) took down his FTP server several months back meaning i had nowhere to store them in the event something like this did happen.

At this point, im seriously considering popping the seal and removing the hard drives from it, because since it's an ASUS laptop, the warranty states that they wont do data migration/drive transfers during repair (or wholesale replacement if it's too far gone).

It's like September 2009 all over again for me. My last pc was running on Win2000 and it crashed - i still won't know if anything is still retrievable off that drive unless i get my hands on a copy of the progam, install it on the main pc and run a search on the drive as a slave to see if any of the files on that one's desktop files are still there.
The reason i ported the files from the pc to the laptop was because the directsound drivers stopped working on that... I even had Squoggy trying to help me last augst for nearly a month trying to find the driver - no dice. And to further complicate the issue, i did a fresh install of xp not soon after on it to see if it would fix the matter. Spoiler: it clearly didnt. And some of the files i ported to the laptop are dating back that far since i just literally picked up where i had left off as far as they were concerned.

Suffice it to say, i'm absolutely just beside myself with grief about this because if i don't pop out the drives now, i won't have those files if something presents itself down the road where i can get it repaired - like i keep saying CONSTANTLY: its not like i have the dough you guys do to do shit all for myself or ensure any of the stuff i do own stays in working order...
Shit just sucks right now.

I'm sorry about that. My Acer laptop is almost 4 years old now when December 25th comes along, my power supply is still good, but the wire is exposed in areas, but I am very careful not to touch the exposed areas. But yeah some people have troubles like this, but I'm sorry guy.

Just sent a dm to him just a few minutes ago to get a response as to the status of his ftp server - but not holding out any hope considering he hasn't been on fa since 2014 apparently.

And also, my sis might've snuck in a couple of days back and took the laptop in for repairs herself - and if she did what i think she did, it's most likely that when i do get it back, the data will effectively be blammed from it (i hope not)...

Just frustrated as fuck right now. Pretty much resigned to it at this point.
