Badge = Fur Con? Yes or No?
I have a question for all my friends. I've seen a lot of furs have some badges with them that, I believe, they got while a fur con. I've only been to one many years ago, so I really don't have a badge, but have been wanting one strictly for ID purposes.
My question is: Are badges STRICTLY from/for cons? Or is it proper to get one even if you don't go to one?
I realize that, that being the case, you'd have to have it laminated and mailed to you, but still...
I don't want to seem insincere like I have been to one, but still...again, something (besides trying to do something with my lack of artistic talent) that I can have as an ID.
Your input would be greatly appreciated.

FA+

Also got them to laminate it to.
so there is an excuse for wearing badges beyond conventions.
a lot of places, where badges where they work for other then security concerns too,
like to identify them as being the public service contact person,
like the hostess or matre d at a fancy resteraunt, hotel conserges and sometimes ceo's,
although the latter tend to wear a discreate little name tag pin, with maybe just their name and maybe i tiny image of their corporate logo.
some wear their bus discount i.d. as a badge so they don't have to fumble for it if they're likely to be asked for it because they don't look senior or disabled.
i can think of lots of reasons why someone would wear one,
and i think several times i've seen the doctor wear one to identify himself to unit.
i think it would make sense to have a picture of your fursona and the tardis on it.
mundanes of course have a problem with anyone living their fantasies though. that's what makes them mundanes.
and that's the only reason it might be a problem.
but you could stuff the badge and its lanyard under the front top of your shirt, or of course just take it of and stuff it in your pocket,
if going somewhere that wearing one might create problems.
but if you're someplace where lots of people are wearing badges from different places for different reasons,
it might actually make you less conspicuous to be wearing it.
at least as long as they didn't look too close and ask which group you might be from.
but then they'd probably just laugh and get a grin out of it.
and for the furry get togethers, that sounds pretty cool too.
as the doctor, you'd certainly very likely need one to be able to get anywhere near getting back to your tardis.
if i had my color printer working, i think i know just what you need,
although i'm not very good at doing character art either.
my art is all about illustrating the artifacts, architecture and alternatives that live in my imagination.
i'm sure you can find somebody who's open for commissions who can make what you want,
for whatever they usually charge for doing so.
