Okay, where to begin...?
Work decided that they wanted to screw us on our insurance. Signed up for Blue Cross and it's more expensive paying it myself than when they were covering it for me. The job "reimburses" us for it, but only up to $135, but they tax the reimbursement and I pay over $200 a month for my insurance.
Our site manager died from a heart attack. I applied to become site manager at the bus yard. They loved me in the interview, but said that they wanted to go with someone who had more (financial) book experience. Which I get, so I didn't feel bad about not getting the position. At least I tried. Our HR manager retired, and I applied for her position too. For some reason, there's a new way they are dealing with applications and never gave me an interview for that position. Whatever.
Our new boss is a dickhead and is screwing over multiple employees. A lot of my co-workers have been coming to me with their complaints because they knew I had applied for his position as well as the HR position and they felt that I could help them. I'm just a lowly employee, just like them, so there's not much I can do. But, still, I had to contact HIS boss, and talk to her about what's been happening. We set up a Town Hall meeting (basically, upper management comes down, listens to complaints, and tries to get them addressed) and that seemed to go over pretty well. The following week, the boss almost seemed to be pouting. Almost everyone has been written up for something stupid. He's retaliating, which he's not allowed to do. Looks like I have to call his boss again. I'm pretty sure he's gonna get fired. Many of my co-workers have already said they want to quit and/or transfer.
Things are still going well for me at GameStop, no complaints there. So far, at least. (Almost been there for 10 years now, BTW)
What else...
My landlord sold the property to a new company. They let us (which would be
felineelement and
rashoni)stay at our original price of $800 a month. At least, for a couple months. They contacted a couple of the tenants and told them that the price was going to increase. We had heard a couple different prices. Basically, if we signed another one year contract, we would be locked in at $1,450 a month. If we signed for a two year, it would be $1,350 a month. We came to the unfortunate decision to move back home with our parents before they decided to send us the letter too. After moving out, I found out the price was upped and officially changed to $1,600 a month. They doubled our rent. They also renovated the inside and it looks amazing. Not worth $1,600 a month, but someone will be stupid enough to pay it.
My puppy Sydney had an abscess in her mouth. I had to take her to the vet to figure out what was wrong. She was acting very lethargic and had me worried. They said the surgery was going to cost about $500, which I can't afford. I'm still accepting donations for anyone that would like to help out with her medical bills. While doing the surgery, they found a calcium deposit on the other side of her mouth and removed that. They biopsied it and found that it was benign. Well, at least there's some good news.
A couple weeks later, my car died on me. Literally, on my way home from work, it starts to sputter. I made it to the driveway and it crapped out and wouldn't start again. So, towed up to the garage. Mechanic said it was the alternator (and belt). There goes another $500. More money that I can't afford.
On the plus side, at least it happened after we moved. I REALLY wouldn't have been able to afford it, had it happened while we were still at our place.
The official move home date was April 1st. I've been at home with my parents since then. I'm planning on paying them back the money I owe them, just as soon as I can. While I'm not paying rent though, I'm helping out with home improvements. And there are a LOT of improvements to be made.
Helped convert the cat room in the basement, where my mom kept some of the cats she fostered (the more feral ones), into the pantry. The flooring we got looks great, but it was from a horrible company, so the boards wiggle and make noise. Not terribly happy with it, but at least it's a small room in the basement. We fixed the room and patched a lot of holes. Painted some of the trim teal and made the room look nice again. Attached the door, forgot to make adjustments for the raised flooring. The door needs to be trimmed so that it doesn't drag on the floor.
The swimming pool needs to be opened! But there's a problem... The side that holds the skimmer is rusted. And I don't mean a little rust, I mean it's rot rusted. It's not really salvageable. My mom asked my dad and I if we could fix it. My father, being the optimistic person that he is, replied with "fuck it, tear down the whole pool." Not exactly the answer my mother wanted. So, after all that was done, we picked up some plexiglass that states "virtually indestructible." Cool, maybe we can salvage one more year out of the pool. We cut the plexiglass, glued the ever loving shit out of everything and patched it all together, then painted it to make it look nice. And it does, it looks really nice. Started filling the pool, water is pouring out the bottom. Great.
We had plans to fix the garage this summer. Some asshat neighbor decided to call the city, so we got a notice that the garage had to be painted by the 9th. Awesome. We stopped everything we were working on to work on the garage. We were going to just quickly scrape the garage and paint it. Trinity came over to help. But after scraping the garage, we found it was so rotted, we were going to need to replace the boards.
I've taken some progress shots of the work we've gotten done and uploaded them to FB (not sure if I want to upload them here or not). Well, we put up new boards, painted the garage, and it looks nice. The city shouldn't have any complaints. We have to clean out the garage so that we can have access to the wall on the other side though, because the whole wall needs to be replaced. The garage is in such disarray though, it's going to take forever. My mom and aunt went out to start organizing stuff, they were out there for about 3 hours and did considerable work. My mom and dad went out a couple days ago and worked for 2 hours. Even more progress. It looks great. To us. There's still so much work to be done. I could estimate about another 20 hours just to have it presentable, not even functional.
School is out in one more week. I also have to scan a bunch of pictures that I have in my cork book. Which, if you know nothing about it, will be donated to Anthrocon 2016 (this year). I will be uploading a journal soon that will contain a lost of all the artists that donated work to it. For now, I think that's just about everything.
I also deleted all of my notes on FA. I plan to start replying to them more regularly and trying to reply to people here more consistently. I am going to be trying my best to be more active all around online. But the easiest way to find out what I'm up to would be to follow me on FB (or Twitter, which apparently gets auto tweets whenever I make a post to FB).
Oh, I also found out that
FireStormSix had issues with his laptop about a year ago and lost a lot of information. Some of said information that was lost was that I wanted a suit from him. I was able to talk to him at MCFC and he told me to just fill out the information again and send it to him. (Which as I'm typing this, I remember I have still yet to do, sorry Firestorm!)
I feel so bad that I haven't been replying to people like I've been saying I would do. So I'm going to start trying even harder. And if you guys want to help remind me, it would be greatly appreciated.
If you guys have any questions, feel free to message me. I'm also on Telegram!
