Three Peaks Challenge
So against my better judgement, I have agreed to do the Three Peaks Challenge with work colleagues in aid of the charity Whizz-Kidz.
For those who don't know, the Three Peaks Challenge involves climbing the three highest peaks in England, Wales and Scotland within 24 hours. This includes traveling from Ben Nevis in Scotland, to Scafell Pike in England and then on to Snowdon in Wales. That is an estimated travel time of 10 hours, so only leaves 14 hours to climb 3 mountains on next to no sleep. This is an extremely difficult challenge that is not only physically difficult but mentally too. This is not something to be underestimated and participants have already started a vigorous training plan, which will include cover a number of miles between now and the climb.
The three mountains are:
Ben Nevis, Scotland - 1344 metres
Scafell Pike, England - 978 metres
Snowdon, Wales - 1085 metres
Our Itinerary:
Tuesday 21 June – Travel to Scotland
Wednesday 22 June (AM) – Thursday 23 June (AM) – Climb Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike and Snowdon
Thursday 23 June (PM) – Travel Home and Sleep!
Charity
Whizz-Kidz transform the lives of disabled children by providing the equipment, support and life skills they need, when they need them – giving them the chance to develop their full potential.
It's now only week away! Quite excited, but also a little nervous!
